Behind a closed door and opaque curtains, you enter the dreamlike universe of jjacques, a space disconnected from time where the bar and kitchen unite to offer a unique experience. For one evening, let yourself be carried away by the energy that pervades it, enveloped by colors, textures, and materials, and savor the present moment. Come and enjoy an intimate and sensory pleasure-filled moment.
Is jjacques a restaurant, an oyster bar, or a cocktail bar? It's up to you to decide.
The cuisine is centered around sharing, focused on seafood and comprised of small dishes, but not neglecting fine cuts of meat and seasonal products. To fully experience it, take the time to savor one of our enticing seafood towers.
The cocktail menu, themed around travel, offers you around twenty original cocktails, both with and without alcohol, as well as many elegantly executed classics. The wine cellar hosts both classic fine wines and little treasures in nature. The bar shelves are home to the finest available spirits.
Named in Canada's 100 Best as one of the top 50 bars in the country since 2022 and holding the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, jjacques promises you an extraordinary evening. Reservations are highly recommended.
JJacques offers a unique and memorable speakeasy experience in Quebec City, celebrated for its warm, intimate atmosphere and exceptional hidden entrance. Visitors frequently praise the expertly crafted cocktail menu and an impressive selection of spirits, which stand out as highlights of the establishment. The food consistently earns high marks, particularly the fresh, high-quality oysters and creative seafood dishes, all delivered by attentive and bilingual staff who are dedicated to providing professional service. While it is a popular spot that can become busy, the overall quality, stylish decor, and meticulous attention to detail make it a highly recommended destination for both locals and travelers seeking a special dining experience.

Fantastic place! Our server Hugo was excellent! Food quality some of the best with great plating & flavors to match! Will definitely return when in Quebec City.
This is apparently a new restaurant in Quebec city. It has an'speak easy' atmosphere where you enter thru a back door after you ring the doorbell for someone to let you in 😁
The food & drinks were amazing! I had the Pornstar martini with passion fruit, & I loved it!
We ate the'staple' seafood tower for an appetizer with oysters, clams, mussels, & big prawns.
Then, we continued with a delicious Halibut crudo. For the main dish, we had the'whole' deconstructed fried fish. The flavor was amazing! Only bones left on the plate 😄
We finished with a lemon tart that hit the right spot after all the seafood he had.
Hugo was amazing & took care of us from the moment he opened the door for us until we left 2 hours later.
My new favorite restaurant in Quebec City!! We were fortunate to walk in without a reservation. .. a wonderful surprise... With or without a res, the place is hard to find. But the diligence is worth it... Trust Google Maps... From the moment we entered, we knew we were off to a great night. Nicholas is server extraordinaire.... Our 🍷 advisor was also great! The intro to the menu is engaging... as is the food itself... 🍤 🍸... Crab pasta in 🌊 urchin bisque... Asparagus to die for...The 🥕 🥕!!! You also feel as if you're in a private space. Can't say enough... Worth the splurge... Cannot wait to return!!!
Recommended by an acquaintance, & seconded by a bartender in a more touristy part of the city, this speakeasy offered us an adventurous experience. Almost invisible from the outside, J. Jacques invited us to pass through a black curtain & - voilà! - took us to another place. It had perhaps the best drink menu I've ever seen, with a range of classics on the left & new concoctions on the right of every page. The tower of seafood was fun, but the drinks are clearly the highlight, from a very talented bartender. A strange fellow customer, a shoeless & almost shirtless local yokel, provided unintentional entertainment with his drunken singing (had he perhaps performed at the folk night at the FEQ the night before?). The wait staff was very attentive & kind, & offered excellent recommendations in perfect English when our French faltered (which was very quickly!). This is one of my favorite, most unforgettable restaurant experiences ever. Highly recommended!
What a hidden gem. We almost weren't sure if we were at the right entrance until we were led through the velvet drape to the bar area. We came here for cocktails only but already bookmarked it for dinner when we return to QC in the future. Our server was really friendly, providing recommendations & personally guiding us through the cocktail menu. Our cocktails were so complex in taste that we have truly found a true speakeasy in Quebec.
