About

Kundah Hôtel provides a focused exploration of Indian culinary traditions through a diverse menu highlighting regional spices and aromatic blends. The selection emphasizes a wide variety of vegetarian preparations that utilize fresh lentils, garden vegetables, and traditional dairy components to achieve complex flavor profiles. Expertly balanced masalas provide a foundational depth to signature curries, while clay oven techniques impart distinct textures to various plant-based offerings. Diners encounter a menu constructed around time-honored cooking methods that showcase the versatility of pulses, grains, and seasonal produce in authentic combinations. Fragrant basmati rice and house-made breads accompany these dishes to ensure a complete sensory experience centered on traditional preparation. Each plate reflects an objective commitment to maintaining the integrity of South Asian flavor structures through careful sourcing and methodical execution of classic recipes.

Review Summary

Kundah Hôtel is widely celebrated for its innovative Indian fusion cuisine, which creatively blends traditional flavors with local Quebec ingredients. Many diners highly recommend the generous and diverse tasting menu, often describing it as an exceptional culinary journey that offers great value for the quality provided. While the service is frequently praised for being professional, friendly, and attentive, some guests have noted inconsistencies, ranging from temperature issues and loud music to mixed experiences depending on seating arrangements. Although the unique concept and vibrant atmosphere leave a lasting impression on most, it is important to note that the menu is experimental rather than strictly traditional, making it a distinct dining experience that encourages reservations.

We loved everything about our dinner at Kundah Hotel. The restaurant is cozy & lively & the hospitality is so warm & relaxed that it's like visiting a friend's home. Our seats at the bar gave us a bird's eye view of the kitchen & our charismatic bartender gave us fantastic cocktail & food recommendations. & the food!! The flavors were an inventive, delicious melding of familiar Indian flavors with local ingredients, like the Bergeron palak (order this!), where local cheese curds replace traditional paneer. The fresh, local ingredients, like sea buckthorn in the puri, added a wonderful lightness & brightness to every dish. We ordered the tasting menu for two & enjoyed not knowing what we'd be getting next. We speak very little French (we're trying) & everyone was fluent in English & happy to accommodate us. Reservation only so book now!

Super friendly staff, they take the time to explain & take care of your needs. We took the surprise menu that cost 45$ per person that comes with 4 small snacks & 2 big plates, The experience was good to taste overall the menu of the restaurant, Some plates are super delicious & others are above average, i was expecting more authentic Indian food but i like the mix & the touch they added. Drinks also on point

Really great restaurant. Casual atmosphere, fun cocktails & mocktails. The chef & owner was super nice & explained the concept of the restaurant & his personal inspiration for it. It is not common to go to an'Indian' restaurant where the chef is not Indian, & we all found the experience to be excellent. The food was fantastic, a fusion of local cuisine & Indian food, locally sourced produce, & a wonderful local chef. Real concept of culinary syncretism. Service was excellent. Great experience.

We came here after having a terrible day driving in the snow & this place made the day a little better for us. We started the night with drinks( turtle & Indian mule). Food vise we had the Puri, Palak Bergeron with chapati , Achari Tikka & Kheer Brule. Every dish was unique & tasted great. One of the best fusion indian food I've eaten in North America. Don't come here expecting traditional indian food & you won't be disappointed! We remembered to only take a picture of the dessert, .

Hi Chef,
We visitied your restaurant after seeing you at the carnaval. I am sure you remember me at your Couchon BBQ presentación at the carnaval as I was the only Indian person there. We visited your restaurant later that evening amd loved your food , loved every single bit. My only suggestion would be the 3 things , chai , chapati & rice. Chai pls dont use the syrup one, try doing it indian style & hold in kettle & serve to order it'll work great, also chapati was not baked at all which made it hard to eat , the ones at carnaval was done excellent. Also the rice pls boil them further, use boiling method instead of soaking method . Rest you're killing it. We will visit you again this summer.. thank you amazing experience, you're doing an amazing job . Very proudable moment & I suggest your place to all. Salute

Im confused about low reviews & I get it why. This restaurant is not your typical desi indian restaurant so please go with an open mind. It takes a lot , trust me .. a lot to learn new cuisine & do it this well as French Chef are doing it in this place. Its commendable & respectable. Service is top notch, very personal , loved their cocktails, everyone works like a family. We loved our cocktails, food was magnificent. The take on beef tartaré, the paani poori, the fish, brulee , chicken , salads , daal was & voila. A definite visit. Thanks team for such amazing time. We will be back for sure.

Delicious fusion of Indian & Québécois cuisines featuring fresh local products. Food is flavorful & creative while maintaining a spice level well in reach of the average north american. Staff is friendly & helpful, the dining room is cozy.

Only problem is that it is always full, so you will definitely need to book in advance.
