About

Kundah Hôtel provides a focused exploration of Indian culinary traditions through a diverse menu highlighting regional spices and aromatic blends. The selection emphasizes a wide variety of vegetarian preparations that utilize fresh lentils, garden vegetables, and traditional dairy components to achieve complex flavor profiles. Expertly balanced masalas provide a foundational depth to signature curries, while clay oven techniques impart distinct textures to various plant-based offerings. Diners encounter a menu constructed around time-honored cooking methods that showcase the versatility of pulses, grains, and seasonal produce in authentic combinations. Fragrant basmati rice and house-made breads accompany these dishes to ensure a complete sensory experience centered on traditional preparation. Each plate reflects an objective commitment to maintaining the integrity of South Asian flavor structures through careful sourcing and methodical execution of classic recipes.

Review Summary

Kundah Hôtel offers a unique fusion dining experience that blends Indian-inspired flavors with local ingredients, frequently drawing praise for its creative tasting menu and excellent, professional service. While many guests celebrate the restaurant as a standout culinary destination in Quebec City with a vibrant atmosphere and exceptional cocktails, some visitors find the concept polarizing, noting that the fusion approach may not satisfy those seeking traditional Indian cuisine. Experiences can occasionally vary, with some patrons noting inconsistent portion sizes, long wait times, or seating preferences, yet the general consensus highlights a welcoming environment where the staff consistently works to accommodate dietary needs and provide a memorable, high-quality meal.

Une fusion de la cuisine indienne & des produits du quebec , avec le canard au beurre & le fromage kefir c'etait un vrai regal & je recommande vraiment la dégustation pour gouter a tout

They don't have a set tasting menu, the dishes are sent out randomly. We were a group of 4. They didn't give us our individual dishes, rather grouped our course. The server was too busy to pay attention to what we had to say. Plus they served us raw rice, literally.

The atmosphere, the service & the cocktails were great. It's an earthy vibe with natural money tree plants & tan wood furniture. The staff is very friendly & prompt & the cocktails were tasty. Other than that, the food was mediocre. It seems very popular & highly rated with a Michelin mention so had higher expectations & was definitely underwhelmed.
The shrimp ceviche was chewy & the bhel was stale, the lamb korma was tangy? the meat was tender but It was so tangy that I was very confused, the side of rice was either undercooked or stale cause It was crunchy. The mushroom pakora & chicken momos were good. Nothing fancy

If you've had really good Indian fusion food from the US: NY, PA, DE, MD, NJ; London areas; I think you'd feel the same underwhelm. Their reservations are also mostly sold out. Honestly felt like we could have just tried a local spot instead of coming back on a day they had reservations available for last seating. Just my personal taste & preference! Deff try It out cause maybe we went on a bad day

The rice was slightly undercooked, which made it difficult to eat. The trout had a strong fishy taste & did not seem very fresh. While the concept of fusion is interesting, the food overall was average, & we've had better Indian fusion elsewhere. The drinks were also fairly standard.

Staff is friendly!

Tried tasting menu for $50 p/p. Loved the whole experience. They were very generous with the variety of dishes & packed left over to bring back to the hotel. Great service. My favorites were pork belly vindaloo (pork had good smoky flavor & tender), creamy spinach sauce with cheese, fritters, eggplant with cashew (spicy), another eggplant dish, butter duck, & carrot salad. As I am writing the review I am cross checking the menu on the website & some of them are not on the menu so I might have to do tasting menu next time as well. Highly recommend it.

Food was okay but very expensive as compared to quantity & taste. Worst experience with waiter forcefully asking me to tip him when tip was already included in the bill
Very bad experience
