Review Summary

La Cuisine is widely praised for its cozy, eclectic atmosphere and authentic, homemade comfort food that makes visitors feel right at home. Guests frequently highlight dishes like the French onion soup, shepherd's pie, and cabbage rolls as standout menu items, while also appreciating the affordable prices and generous portions. The staff is consistently described as warm, welcoming, and helpful, often going out of their way to explain menus to non-French speakers. While the decor and retro vibe are celebrated as unique and charming, the restaurant is seen as a refreshing, local alternative to more tourist-heavy dining spots in Quebec City.

Really enjoyed the laid-back & cozy vibe of this restaurant. The menu is small & simple. We tried the lasagna, shepherd's pie, & onion soup based on other reviews, & all three were very good. The drinks were great too. Not a five-star just because nothing totally blew us away, but definitely worth a visit if you're looking for good local food in a chill setting.

Everything was 10/10. The French onion soup & Sheppard's Pie were the best I've ever had. This is more of a late night eats spot where you can eat, have a few drinks, & listen to some live music. We came on a Friday night & the atmosphere + food were a great introduction to Quebec City. Merci beaucoup!!!

Nice place & nice atmosphere. The food was heated in the microwave, which is pretty weird & might explain the affordable pricing. Taste-wise, it was just average. We had shepherd's pie, lasagna, & the soup of the day, which was a tomato-pepper soup. I would probably recommend it for a drink & the cozy vibes, but less so for eating out.

Me & my friend visiting from Australia & we ordered the french onion soup (which was amazing & hearty) & I have the maple syrup ham & cheese pie & he had the shepherd's pie. Amazing traidtional local food & definitely not a tourist trap. Place was filled with locals. Only complaint is that the portions should be bigger cos we loved the food. Amazing restaurant frequented by locals & not a usual overpriced tourist spot that us visitors are accustomed to

we got the lasagna, shepard's pie, tomato soup, & nachos. everything was average: lasagna was mostly tomato sauce & not enough of the other things, nachos lacked sufficient cheese, shepherds pie was steaming hot geriatric slop (we still ate it all). tomato soup was FIRE though. relative to the other restaurants in the tourist part quebec city, i guess it was pretty okay for the price ($20 after tax & tip per person). the environment is much more memorable though. waiter was very nice, decor was so fun & warm & inviting. why aren't all restaurants decorated like this
