Back in the day, when Savoyard shepherds wanted to warm up, they poured a little coffee and a lot of alcohol into a wooden shoe, hence the name “grolle”. Later, these shepherds made wooden containers that included several holes specifically designed for this recipe. There are now several sizes of grolles depending on the number of guests (from 2 holes to 8 holes). The grolle, also known as the “cup of friendship”, usually gets passed from hand to hand and should not come back on the table until it is finished.

We're level 6 reviewers & this is a culinary excellency. I vote this the best restaurant I've been to in the last 12 months. Excellent fondue, unbelievable service. The guy & the lady both treat the place with love.

On e of the highlights of our trip to Quebec City. This charming family run restaurant is off the beaten path & an absolute gem. Oliver guided us through the menu & did not disappoint. The raclette is a must- it's an experience not to be missed. We also had cheese fondue & beef fondue , which came with a variety of sauces, all delicious. We finished with the chocolate fondue. It was our last night in Quebec City & I'm so glad we found this place! 10/10!

One of the reasons why you need to visit Quebec City except from the Chateau, the falls & the plethora of activities, is to have dinner at La Grolla!!! The best spot of the city has :Incredible food, amazing wine & great decoration with a unique attention to detail. Must try the classic fondue & the cheese fondue with some white or red wine, depending on your preferences. Big, big thanks to Olivier & La Grolla for offering us the best food & hospitality experience that we had, not only during our 3day visit in Quebec but in 5 years we have been to Canada. Will be back asap!!!

La nourriture était excellente, la fondue au fromage était excellente ! Nous avons pris de la fondue chinoise aux fruits de mer que nous vous recommandons, mais pensez à prendre un accompagnement en extra. Pour notre part nous avions pris le sac de patates grelot que je recommande & des tranches de boeuf qui était peut être de trop pour nous vue la grande quantité que nous avons reçu ! Le fondue au chocolat était superbe! Pour le steak celui-ci était flambée à la table & la cuissons continuait sur la pierre ! Très intéressant & bon aux goûts ! L'ambiance était parfaite si vous désirez profiter de votre repas. Bref belle découverte que nous recommandons!

We had ordered the three course Fondue, each of which was terrific. Meal took 2.5 hours which was a little long. But food was great & server was very nice.

Nous avons passé une très bonne soirée. Le service était impeccable, notre serveur avait une belle énergie & était à l'écoute. Merci encore lui pour son dynamisme !
La nourriture était bonne. Seul petit point négatif c'est la quantité. Nous avions des fondues, nous étions sur notre faim la concernant
La prochaine fois nous essayerons la raclette !

Première visite, mais sûrement pas la dernière! Nous étions un groupe de 4 & avons essayé la fondue au fromage "La Grolla" & "La Québécoise" accompagnées de pommes de terre, légumes & charcuterie. Wow!!! Quel délice, tout était bon! Le service rapide. Merci à Dave notre serveur!
