Back in the day, when Savoyard shepherds wanted to warm up, they poured a little coffee and a lot of alcohol into a wooden shoe, hence the name “grolle”. Later, these shepherds made wooden containers that included several holes specifically designed for this recipe. There are now several sizes of grolles depending on the number of guests (from 2 holes to 8 holes). The grolle, also known as the “cup of friendship”, usually gets passed from hand to hand and should not come back on the table until it is finished.

Évaluation : ★☆☆☆☆ Je suis allé au restaurant La Grolla il y a deux semaines, & je dois dire que j'ai été très déçu de mon expérience. Tout d'abord, le service laissait à désirer. Le serveur a déplacé nos verres d'eau en les prenant par le haut, ce qui n'est pas très hygiénique. Ensuite, il manquait deux fromages dans notre fondue, ce qui est inacceptable pour un restaurant spécialisé dans ce plat. De plus, le serveur a lui-même entré manuellement le montant du pourboire sur le terminal, ce qui m'a mis mal à l'aise. Enfin, le pain qui accompagnait la fondue était sec, ce qui a encore plus gâché l'expérience. Pour un souper à plus de 100$ pour deux personnes sans vin, je m'attendais à un bien meilleur service & une meilleure qualité de nourriture. Je ne recommanderais pas ce restaurant, surtout à ce prix.
We didn't have a reservation but they squeezed us in, great start! We chose the cheese fondue from Quebec with vegetables & bread. The service was quick & friendly & the food was also spot on! We capped it off with a small serving of maple fondue with fruits; excellent idea!
Beau petit restaurant cozy, très cher! Nous avons pris le repas 3 fondues (entrée fondue au fromage, fondue chinoise en repas principal & fondu choco comme dessert) & j'ai été un tantinet déçue. Pour le prix, je m'attendait à mieux. Les serveurs étaient très gentils & s'occupait bien de nous, mais côté goût j'aurais eu la même chose pour 1/4 du prix à la maison. Peut-être que les autres options sont délicieuses par contre.

Les fondues suisses sont absolument géniales! Le service était impeccable & le serveur donnait l'allure du propriétaire du restaurant! J'y retournerais si y avoir un parking serait plus facile!
One of the best dinners I've ever had!! Such a great fondue experience!! Did the seafood & meat - delicious! The cheese & chocolate courses were amazing too! Our waiter was absolutely lovely as well & had great insight on the food!
Para empezar, cuando llegamos dudaron si darnos una mesa cuando estaba el restaurante vacío (en ningún momento se llegó a llenar). Estábamos dudando con la carta por tema de cantidad y la verdad es que ninguno de los dos camareros estaban muy por la labor de ayudar en general. Acabamos pidiendo una fondue de carne, una de queso, dos sides de patatas y dos cervezas para 4 personas. En la fondue de carne vinieron cuatro trozos de carne con algunas salsas para untar que aunque estaba bueno costaba 50CAD y en la de queso el pan era de hace 3 días. Por esto nos cobraron en total 214CAD. Nos pareció desorbitado para lo que era porque además salimos con hambre. Sinceramente, ni volvería ni lo recomendaría. No entendemos la nota tan alta que tiene.

On e of the highlights of our trip to Quebec City. This charming family run restaurant is off the beaten path & an absolute gem. Oliver guided us through the menu & did not disappoint. The raclette is a must- it's an experience not to be missed. We also had cheese fondue & beef fondue , which came with a variety of sauces, all delicious. We finished with the chocolate fondue. It was our last night in Quebec City & I'm so glad we found this place! 10/10!
