Back in the day, when Savoyard shepherds wanted to warm up, they poured a little coffee and a lot of alcohol into a wooden shoe, hence the name “grolle”. Later, these shepherds made wooden containers that included several holes specifically designed for this recipe. There are now several sizes of grolles depending on the number of guests (from 2 holes to 8 holes). The grolle, also known as the “cup of friendship”, usually gets passed from hand to hand and should not come back on the table until it is finished.

Wonderful food! I had the cheese fondue with tomato & garlic with a side of bread & a sack of potatoes. Delicious to say the least! Ambience was warm & cozy.
Service was great but had to wait for almost 10 minutes before I could speak to anyone to get myself seated despite having a reservation.
Cutest little fondue spot downtown Quebec City! We were 7 people & they accommodated us no problem, lots of large tables for big groups. Classic québécois fondue is exceptional, great portion size, great price! Raclette (with charcuterie) was also an amazing price for such a huge portions. The fondue chinois was UNREAL, so aromatic, such great flavours!! We split everything between 4 people & it came out to about $40 each. Definitely going to return!
Wow!!! Some of the best cheese & chocolate fondue I've had! Some really good options, but we opted for the classic dishes- recommended by our server (also the owner). A little tucked away up the hill, but absolutely worth the climb!

The best! Don't miss! Authentic Fondue, wonderful setting, great service. We met the owners. A brother & sister run their dads restaurant. It's been there 40 years. Oliver was our server & was fantastic. Try the maple dessert fondue.
La Grolla est un véritable petit bijou qui allie charme & authenticité. Dès que l'on franchit le seuil de ce restaurant, on est accueilli par un décor ancien qui respire l'histoire & la convivialité. Les murs ornés de souvenirs d'antan & les meubles en bois patinés créent une atmosphère chaleureuse & accueillante.
Les plats sont non seulement savoureux, mais également superbement présentés. On a particulièrement apprécié la fondue, bien que la portion de salade qui l'accompagnait soit un peu petite à notre goût. Cela dit, la qualité des ingrédients compense largement cette petite déception.
Le service est un autre point fort de La Grola. Le serveur était discret & attentif, veillant à ce que chaque client se sente à l'aise sans être envahissant.
L'ambiance est généralement très plaisante, mais elle a été quelque peu perturbée par l'arrivée d'un groupe bruyant dans le petit salon. Cela a légèrement altéré l'atmosphère paisible que l'on appréciait.
En ce qui concerne les prix, ils sont tout à fait acceptables compte tenu de la qualité des plats & du service. La Grolla offre une belle expérience culinaire qui mérite d'être vécue. En somme, je recommande vivement ce restaurant à ceux qui recherchent une escapade gourmande dans un cadre charmant.
It is amazing, the cheese fondue is great! & so is the chocolate fondue as a sweet treat in the end. Soo good. Definitely worth a visit. You have to reserve early enough though, they are booked out fast.
Super moment avec mon conjoint ! Nous avons essayé le trio de fondues ( fromages, chinoise fruits de mer & chocolat & c'était délicieux!! Bouillon maison & mélange de fromages réussi! Ok reviendra !
10/10 pour le service, un gros s/o à notre serveur bein comique qui nous tenait au courant des potins (aka une demande en mariage fouèreuse au fond du resto ). À deux, nous avons pris le menu triplette (fondue au fromage, fondue bourguignonne & fondue au chocolat), on en a eu pour notre argent (pas besoin de déjeuner le lendemain hihi). Grande sélection de vins, mais le reste du bar est assez simpliste (rip mon mojito, mais j'les pardonne). Super décor & ambiance, c'était cool de découvrir ce nouvel endroit pour deux locales en date night ❤️
