Back in the day, when Savoyard shepherds wanted to warm up, they poured a little coffee and a lot of alcohol into a wooden shoe, hence the name “grolle”. Later, these shepherds made wooden containers that included several holes specifically designed for this recipe. There are now several sizes of grolles depending on the number of guests (from 2 holes to 8 holes). The grolle, also known as the “cup of friendship”, usually gets passed from hand to hand and should not come back on the table until it is finished.

This is the best fondue restaurant in town! If you're looking for authentic Quebecois food with excellent service, this is the place to go. This restaurant provides an excellent atmosphere, with the best authentic fondue experience. Our server was amazing & the kitchen staff were also incredibly kind & approachable. We will definitely be coming back the next time we are in Quebec!

Il y a quelques années j'aimais bien aller à la Grolla pour une raclette. Mais j'ai déjà acheté un forfait en ligne & lorsque j'ai fais la réservation pour un dimanche, on m'a alloué le souper à 20h car selon eux l'achanlandage ne permettait pas de pouvoir avoir une place à 18h. Mais comme nous étions dans le secteur avant l'heure désignée, nous avons constaté que le resto était occupé à environ 20$. Première déception. Par la suite, les quantié du repas servi n'était même pas l'équivalent d'une entrée. Deuxième déception. J'ai rayé cet endroit pour la manêre d'avoir été traité ( heure de la réservation) & arnaqué ( quantité du repas). Je me suis dit que lorsque c'était le Chalait Suisse & par la suite la Grolla c'était la belle époque. Maintenant, c'est un restaurant pour touristes qui ne passent qu'une fois & que la clientèle locale doit aller ailleurs. Dommage car j'aimais l'ambiance & la qualité du repas. Mais le service, le respect du client & le contenue du repas compte dans l'évaluation. À éviter & laisser ce resto aux touristes de passage.

Olivier was incredibly helpful & overall fantastic, amazing food, all fresh & tasty. We got the Chef Fondue & Skillet & it was fresh & worth every penny, would like to see more vegetarian options if possible

Excellent service. Très bonne cuisine avec une généreuse portion de fondue. En formule table d'hôte, il restait à peine de la place pour le dessert! Le seul problème c'est le stationnement. Il a fallu faire le tour des rues avoisinantes pour trouver un espace libre.
