Back in the day, when Savoyard shepherds wanted to warm up, they poured a little coffee and a lot of alcohol into a wooden shoe, hence the name “grolle”. Later, these shepherds made wooden containers that included several holes specifically designed for this recipe. There are now several sizes of grolles depending on the number of guests (from 2 holes to 8 holes). The grolle, also known as the “cup of friendship”, usually gets passed from hand to hand and should not come back on the table until it is finished.

If you love a traditional Swiss dining experience then you must visit La Grolla. Not only is the service impeccable, but the food is outstanding & the atmosphere very convivial! Highly recommend!

Staff are extremely helpful & courteous. This was our first time eating at this style of restaurant & the server helped us to understand the menu & made great suggestions I highly recommend the maple dessert with 5 stars!

On était 4 (ma copine, moi & un couple d'amis). Côté bouffe, rien d'exceptionnel. J'ai pris une raclette… au final 60$ pour des patates & un morceau de fromage.

Le vrai problème, c'est le service. Le serveur a pris les commandes en commençant par les autres, ben correct… sauf qu'il allait repartir sans me demander mon plat principal après que j'ai dit mon entrée. J'ai dû le rattraper en l'informant que j'allais manger moi aussi...

Mon verre de vin? Servi une fois, jamais proposé de refill malgré ses 3-5 venu à notre table. Pendant toute la soirée, j'avais l'impression d'être invisible. Les interactions étaient surtout avec les autres, moi j'étais comme un figurant à ma propre table. Pas de refill d'eau pour moi non plus.

& pour couronner le tout, j'ai appris APRÈS la soirée que le pain sur la table était aussi pour moi… le serveur ne me l'a jamais mentionné & s'est fait un plaisir à le mettre le plus loin possible de moi sur la table.

Bref, expérience décevante pour le prix. Beaucoup à revoir côté service. Ça méritait le beau 0% de pourboire.

J'ai tellement été ignoré durant ce repas que cet avis sera assurément tout autant ignoré!
