Back in the day, when Savoyard shepherds wanted to warm up, they poured a little coffee and a lot of alcohol into a wooden shoe, hence the name “grolle”. Later, these shepherds made wooden containers that included several holes specifically designed for this recipe. There are now several sizes of grolles depending on the number of guests (from 2 holes to 8 holes). The grolle, also known as the “cup of friendship”, usually gets passed from hand to hand and should not come back on the table until it is finished.

Such a great experience we went back 2 nights later for more. Highly recommend the Swiss fondue (top 3 we have ever had) & pair with the Alsatian Riesling , servers were very friendly. It’s a small place that gets busy so don’t be in a rush & enjoy the cheese. Recommend making a reservation.

Fantastic! Little gem in Quebec so close to our hotel, the Hilton. Quaint place, great server, & delicious 3 course fondue dinner! Great date night! We would definitely come back.

Bonne nourriture & portions adéquates pour le prix. Bel emplacement & beaux décors. Par contre le menu pourrait être révisé. Par exemple, ce n'est pas clair qu'il n'y a que du pain qui vient de base avec les fondues au fromage. Aussi, il n'y a que le prix des vins qui est indiqué dans le menu, alors que d'autres types d'alcool sont offerts. Finalement, dès notre premier contact avec le serveur, nous avons eu l'impression de le déranger. Nos questions étaient répondues partiellement & avec l'empressement de quelqu'un qui a envie d'être ailleurs.
