Back in the day, when Savoyard shepherds wanted to warm up, they poured a little coffee and a lot of alcohol into a wooden shoe, hence the name “grolle”. Later, these shepherds made wooden containers that included several holes specifically designed for this recipe. There are now several sizes of grolles depending on the number of guests (from 2 holes to 8 holes). The grolle, also known as the “cup of friendship”, usually gets passed from hand to hand and should not come back on the table until it is finished.

We enjoyed our dining experience very much during our recent vacation to Quebec City. Service was friendly & helpful- we greatly appreciated the assistance of our server calling for a taxi to take us back to our hotel. Food was excellent- we enjoyed three different types of fondue (two with beef tenderloin cubes & one vegetarian). The dessert fondue with chocolate, fruit, & marshmallows was also very good. Very happy we decided to dine at La Grolla.

What can I say? My wife & I come to Quebec city once a year & we have been coming for the last 25 in a row. We have eaten here at least 20 times. The place is chill, the food is great & the staff is great. The menu is representative of their area of focus & they deliver. it's the real Swiss experience. Go if you have the chance.

Was recommended by our hotel as a birthday treat.
Our server was really helpful explaining the fondue experience.
We had pats & soup to start - both tasty & generous potions.
We then had beef tenderloin traditional fondue. It was very good quality but I was glad to pad it out with the delicious little potatoes
Followed up with the chocolate fondue which again was tasty & plentiful
A nice experience at a reasonable price
Worth a visit for something different. Merci !!
