We had a terrible experience here. My folks placed an order for fish & chips & poutine an order that should have taken 20 to 30 minutes top to be served. We waited for over 45 minutes & the food was still not served. Around the 30 minute mark i went to check on the order, & I was told it would take 12 minutes. Another 15 minutes later, my dad went to check on the food it turns out the order was not placed. We paid for the beer & left. There was someone there, I am assuming the owner since he asked us to pay for the beer & told us their was a problem with the chef.
My folks & I are of Indian origin, normally I would not disclose our race but it's worth mentioning since a Spanish family was able to get the food before us.
The food was really delicious & definitely budget
friendly. The owners were very accommodating, which made the whole dining experience even better. The spaghetti & fish & chips were perfecto highly recommended!
After strolling through the cobblestone streets of Old Town Quebec, we stumbled across this place in the attempt to warm up from the frigid elements. Mind you, coming from California we were still acclimating to the weather shock of -14 deg C (7 deg F) with a fair level of wind chill. The owner along with his staff were very accommodating. We instantly warmed-up [different context] to a great chat about the Quebec culture, about our backgrounds, etc. Anyway let's get to the point - the food was fantastic! We had the fish & chips & spaghetti. & I kid you not, their way of preparing dishes is so different from the way it's done in the US. Really feels homemade. My tip to you folks is never be afraid of the small talk - the Quebecois people are some of most warm & personable people I have ever encountered.

We visited this restaurant on a whim. The staff was pleasant & checked on us throughout our meal. Although it appears small & limited seating there is additional seating on the second floor for larger groups. Order first at the bottom floor & pick your seating. I got the fish & chips (changed my chips to a poutine) done to perfection with tarter sauce, ketchup & lemon slices. We would visit again next time it won't be on a whim!
The food was served fast despite many pax, The owner is multilingual & friendly asking how we doing. The staff really helpfull. The food is tasty. Love the tartare sauce of Fish & Chips & the fries is generously portioned
Best mulled wine I've tasted. Must try! Also ordered the Spaghetti Bolognese, Fish & Chips & Poutine & all were delicious. Price was also very reasonable even if it's in a touristy location.
J'ai récemment visité Casse-Cou deux fois, & mes expériences étaient vraiment différentes. Première Visite : Note : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) Lors de ma première visite, j'étais vraiment impressionné. Le fish & chips était délicieux, croustillant & bien assaisonné, & le hamburger, bien que pas incroyable, était correct. Ce qui a vraiment fait la différence, c'était le service. Le monsieur plus âgé à l'entrée, probablement le propriétaire, était très accueillant & mettait tout le monde à l'aise. En plus, manger dehors sur la terrasse était génial, surtout avec le beau temps. Deuxième Visite : Note : ⭐⭐ (2/5) Malheureusement, ma deuxième visite était totalement différente. Même si la nourriture était toujours aussi bonne, le service était très mauvais. À notre arrivée, nous avons été ignorés alors que nous attendions à la porte, même si plusieurs employés sont passés devant nous. Finalement, nous avons dû demander une table nous-mêmes & ensuite, nous avons dû retourner au bar pour commander car personne ne s'occupait de nous. Les employés d'âge moyen prenaient des pauses cigarette toutes les cinq minutes & ne faisaient rien pour les clients. Le restaurant était plein, & pendant que ces employés prenaient plusieurs pauses, les autres clients n'étaient pas non plus servis. Quand nous leur avons parlé, ils étaient assez impolis. Nous avons même dit que nous étions pressés & que nous avions besoin de recevoir notre nourriture le plus rapidement possible, ou au moins savoir quand nous l'aurions, mais les employés d'âge moyen n'en avaient rien à faire. En contraste, la jeune serveuse semblait être la seule à vraiment travailler, essayant de répondre aux besoins des clients malgré le chaos. C'est un véritable exploit de faire sentir quelqu'un mal accueilli dans un endroit où il paie pour être. Ayant vécu au Canada pendant 40 ans, c'est la première fois que je n'ai pas laissé de pourboire. C'est incroyable de transformer un repas en une telle galère. La bonne nourriture ne peut pas compenser un service aussi médiocre. J'espère vraiment que la direction va régler ces gros problèmes de service, car le potentiel pour une super expérience culinaire est là, mais caché sous l'indifférence. En résumé, Casse-Cou pourrait être un super endroit pour manger, surtout avec le charme de leur terrasse quand il fait beau, mais seulement si le service de ma première visite devient la norme. En combinant les deux expériences, je donnerais à Casse-Cou une note globale de 3/5.
A real hidden gem. Nestled among so many fancier places, this is exactly what you're looking for when you just want delicious, easy food. My partner really loved the fish & chips, & I thoroughly enjoyed my burger & especially the poutine -- my favourite poutine of my trip to Quebec City, in fact. The staff was friendly, the drink selection was plentiful, & I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a straightforward & satisfying meal!
