About

Le Casse-Crêpe Breton specializes in the preparation of traditional French crêpes, offering an extensive selection of savory galettes made with buckwheat flour and sweet crêpes featuring diverse fruit and chocolate fillings. The menu emphasizes consistent preparation techniques, ensuring each crêpe maintains a thin, delicate texture paired with fresh, high-quality ingredients sourced for classic flavor profiles. Patrons observe the production process from an open station where batter is spread onto heated griddles with practiced precision. The establishment maintains a functional, casual atmosphere suitable for straightforward, focused dining centered on its core griddle-based offerings. Beyond the signature crêpes, the kitchen provides hearty sandwiches constructed with artisanal bread and select deli meats. This venue remains a primary destination for individuals seeking authentic Breton culinary staples served in a direct, no-nonsense format without unnecessary embellishments.

Review Summary

Le Casse-Crêpe Breton offers a popular dining experience in Old Quebec City, widely praised for its extensive menu of both savory and sweet crepes that are often described as delicious, fresh, and perfectly portioned. Many visitors enjoy the cozy, classic atmosphere and the entertaining open kitchen where they can watch their food being prepared. While the staff is frequently highlighted as friendly, kind, and efficient, some guests have reported inconsistent service, including long wait times, occasional order mix-ups, or a hurried feeling during peak hours. Opinions on the buckwheat crepes are notably mixed, with some diners finding them authentic and enjoyable, while others feel the texture and flavor are lacking compared to traditional expectations. Despite some critiques regarding specific sides or seasoning, the restaurant remains a frequent go-to for many, especially for those seeking a charming, reasonably priced breakfast or brunch in a beautiful, historic setting.

Very friendly. We sat along street with open window to enjoy the beautiful day. We ordered lattes, a vanilla shake, & crepes (one savory, one sweet). The portions were large, delicious, & reasonable. The menu offered a great variety. & if you are gluten free, you are not left out! They offer gluten free options!!

Loved the crepe, but the hot chocolate was not as good as it looks; tasted like powder chocolate.

Great location & cozy interior with excellent customer service. However, we experienced a significant delay in getting our crepe order ready, which took more than 50 minutes. Unfortunately, no one came to apologize or inform us about the delay, leading to a frustratingly long wait. When my order finally arrived, it was not worth the wait. I ordered a turkey crepe, which I found tasteless, with the meat resembling the cheapest turkey cold cut. Perhaps I made the wrong choice, but it was a disappointing meal overall. This visit gets only one star from me. I would not return based on this experience. However, I'm giving three stars in total because my wife was satisfied with her roast beef on buckwheat crepe

Repeated this restaurant several times for brunch. Great service, great food, quite the good ambience except it is a bit cramped but nothing too bothering. Here is what food i got: Every time for the salty crêpe: bacon, mozzarella & goat cheese. The cappuccino & the dirty chai latte is also good. Overall worth going for a crêpe!
