About

Le Casse-Crêpe Breton specializes in the preparation of traditional French crêpes, offering an extensive selection of savory galettes made with buckwheat flour and sweet crêpes featuring diverse fruit and chocolate fillings. The menu emphasizes consistent preparation techniques, ensuring each crêpe maintains a thin, delicate texture paired with fresh, high-quality ingredients sourced for classic flavor profiles. Patrons observe the production process from an open station where batter is spread onto heated griddles with practiced precision. The establishment maintains a functional, casual atmosphere suitable for straightforward, focused dining centered on its core griddle-based offerings. Beyond the signature crêpes, the kitchen provides hearty sandwiches constructed with artisanal bread and select deli meats. This venue remains a primary destination for individuals seeking authentic Breton culinary staples served in a direct, no-nonsense format without unnecessary embellishments.

Review Summary

Le Casse-Crêpe Breton offers a popular dining experience in Old Quebec City, widely praised for its extensive menu of both savory and sweet crepes that are often described as delicious, fresh, and perfectly portioned. Many visitors enjoy the cozy, classic atmosphere and the entertaining open kitchen where they can watch their food being prepared. While the staff is frequently highlighted as friendly, kind, and efficient, some guests have reported inconsistent service, including long wait times, occasional order mix-ups, or a hurried feeling during peak hours. Opinions on the buckwheat crepes are notably mixed, with some diners finding them authentic and enjoyable, while others feel the texture and flavor are lacking compared to traditional expectations. Despite some critiques regarding specific sides or seasoning, the restaurant remains a frequent go-to for many, especially for those seeking a charming, reasonably priced breakfast or brunch in a beautiful, historic setting.

Nous avons mangé la crêpe jambon, fromage suisse, asperge & bechamel ainsi que la crêpe beurre/sucre, fraise & crème anglaise. Excellentes! Les serveurs étaient très gentils. Service impeccable.

Indulging in crêpes from various corners of the globe, our anticipation was high for this culinary adventure. However, our experience fell short of expectations. Despite ordering an array of five crêpes, we found them disappointingly undercooked & doughy, failing to capture the delicate texture we adore. My selection, adorned with a strawberry filling, left much to be desired, with a thickness & taste reminiscent of mass-produced varieties. Seeking an alternative, I received a replacement crêpe, yet it too failed to meet the mark, remaining undercooked. To add salt to the wound, the inclusion of the replacement on the bill felt unwarranted & left a bitter taste. Regrettably, our encounter leaves us unable to recommend this establishment.

The ambiance is great but the crepes are cold (premade - even when we asked to make fresh ones) & tasteless.

I was looking for a cozy breakfast spot with good vibes & I knew I made the right choice when A Tribe Called Quest started playing over the speakers. The staff here is friendly & efficient & the food is fantastic. I had a chocolate chaud & caramel apple crepe & both were everything I needed them to be. I'm only giving them 5 stars because I can't give them 6.

L'attente dans le portique fait assez ordinaire. C'est bon, sans plus. Café & jus à prix prohibitif . 3 crêpes 2 jus & un latté pour 75$ taxes & pourboires inclus !!!!!!!!

Come for the crepes! There are a few places for them on the block, & this place is top notch. Dedicated crepe counter & a small little kitchen keeps it simple. Both the sweet & savory were delicious. The maple butter was awesome.

All day the only thing I was looking forward was to eat crepes. This restaurant dissapointed me. The crepes were thick & crunchy. Exactly what a crepe is not supposed to be. If you are looking for good crepes definetly don't go to this place. The service was good & fast, the atmosphere was good but the crepes were not it. If you go this place definelty order something else.
