About

Le Casse-Crêpe Breton specializes in the preparation of traditional French crêpes, offering an extensive selection of savory galettes made with buckwheat flour and sweet crêpes featuring diverse fruit and chocolate fillings. The menu emphasizes consistent preparation techniques, ensuring each crêpe maintains a thin, delicate texture paired with fresh, high-quality ingredients sourced for classic flavor profiles. Patrons observe the production process from an open station where batter is spread onto heated griddles with practiced precision. The establishment maintains a functional, casual atmosphere suitable for straightforward, focused dining centered on its core griddle-based offerings. Beyond the signature crêpes, the kitchen provides hearty sandwiches constructed with artisanal bread and select deli meats. This venue remains a primary destination for individuals seeking authentic Breton culinary staples served in a direct, no-nonsense format without unnecessary embellishments.

Review Summary

Le Casse-Crêpe Breton offers a popular dining experience in Old Quebec City, widely praised for its extensive menu of both savory and sweet crepes that are often described as delicious, fresh, and perfectly portioned. Many visitors enjoy the cozy, classic atmosphere and the entertaining open kitchen where they can watch their food being prepared. While the staff is frequently highlighted as friendly, kind, and efficient, some guests have reported inconsistent service, including long wait times, occasional order mix-ups, or a hurried feeling during peak hours. Opinions on the buckwheat crepes are notably mixed, with some diners finding them authentic and enjoyable, while others feel the texture and flavor are lacking compared to traditional expectations. Despite some critiques regarding specific sides or seasoning, the restaurant remains a frequent go-to for many, especially for those seeking a charming, reasonably priced breakfast or brunch in a beautiful, historic setting.

Petit endroit charmant avec cachet. Excellent service amical & souriant & crêpes délicieuses! Option choisissez vos ingrédients! Mimosa au cidre à essayer!

This place was a bit disappointing for us. We had quite a long wait & were originally offered separate spots at the bar but decided to wait for a table to become available (group of 2). I ordered a crepe with strawberry & was expecting something fresh but it came out with only strawberry jam. The service was very slow & unfortunately I burnt my hand making my tea because the hot water comes out in a lightbulb-shaped glass with no handle? The food ended up tasting okay but I think we would try somewhere else for crepes the next time we visit Quebec City. Worth a try but not our fave in the end.

Our crepe was burnt to the point you couldn't cut it with a knife. Save your money & head to Le Billig. Our server was great & attentive & the atmosphere was fine.

Endroit très mignon, chaleureux. Personnel sympatique. La crêpe au sarasin est un peu special. La crêpe au froment est plus gourmande. & pour la garniture j'ai trouvé dommange que le jaune d'oeuf ne reste pas coulant

Le Casse-Crepe Breton A very nice creperie downtown old Quebec city, I got take out & it was pretty easy overall, I had to wait 25 mins for two crepes which isn't that bad, the main entrance was terrible & crowded, couldn't exit with people standing in the through way, weird design choice to be honest. Still recommended given the food was great!

A very tasty crepe, though not my favorite. I wish the whipped cream was made fresh rather than a canned whipped cream. Otherwise the atmosphere was lovely & servers were very kind.
