About

Le Casse-Crêpe Breton specializes in the preparation of traditional French crêpes, offering an extensive selection of savory galettes made with buckwheat flour and sweet crêpes featuring diverse fruit and chocolate fillings. The menu emphasizes consistent preparation techniques, ensuring each crêpe maintains a thin, delicate texture paired with fresh, high-quality ingredients sourced for classic flavor profiles. Patrons observe the production process from an open station where batter is spread onto heated griddles with practiced precision. The establishment maintains a functional, casual atmosphere suitable for straightforward, focused dining centered on its core griddle-based offerings. Beyond the signature crêpes, the kitchen provides hearty sandwiches constructed with artisanal bread and select deli meats. This venue remains a primary destination for individuals seeking authentic Breton culinary staples served in a direct, no-nonsense format without unnecessary embellishments.

Review Summary

Le Casse-Crêpe Breton offers a popular dining experience in Old Quebec City, widely praised for its extensive menu of both savory and sweet crepes that are often described as delicious, fresh, and perfectly portioned. Many visitors enjoy the cozy, classic atmosphere and the entertaining open kitchen where they can watch their food being prepared. While the staff is frequently highlighted as friendly, kind, and efficient, some guests have reported inconsistent service, including long wait times, occasional order mix-ups, or a hurried feeling during peak hours. Opinions on the buckwheat crepes are notably mixed, with some diners finding them authentic and enjoyable, while others feel the texture and flavor are lacking compared to traditional expectations. Despite some critiques regarding specific sides or seasoning, the restaurant remains a frequent go-to for many, especially for those seeking a charming, reasonably priced breakfast or brunch in a beautiful, historic setting.

Absolutely incredible crepes! While traveling through Canada, I stumbled upon this charming creperie & was blown away. The buckwheat crepes were perfectly crisp on the outside & soft inside-authentic, flavorful, & clearly made with care. I tried both a savory crepe & a sweet one topped with fresh strawberries, & they were both phenomenal. The plating was beautiful, the ingredients were fresh, & everything tasted homemade. Bonus points for the cozy stone wall interior & friendly service. One of the best meals of my trip-highly recommend!

The service is great & most of the food as well, I recommend they look into a better buckwheat pancake recipe.
In terms of atmosphere, the overall is great but the staff were openly talking about subjects no customers want to hear during breakfast.

The Oreo dessert crape was to die for. Highly recommend. If you have the chance sit at the bar & watch the crape maker go. Entertained my kids the whole time.

We had an excellent lunch here on a weekday in May. I had a crepe stuffed with sausage, bacon, eggs, etc & it was fantastic. My husband had a sweet s'more crepe that was ok, but he said mind was much better. He had a chai latte that was fantastic.

Our server was attentive, filled our water constantly, & was very nice. The room was a bit dark & mostly wood, not much decor, but it was clean & the food was great! I would recommend for sure.

Visited this cozy brunch spot in Quebec-definitely one of the best places to enjoy savoury crêpes. We tried their signature set crêpes but felt the build-your-own option tasted even better. My sister-in-law went with pesto sauce & added some free hot sauce, which ended up being much more flavourful than the béchamel. If you're someone who loves bold flavours & a filling meal, go for the custom option!

Their strawberry milkshake was absolutely delicious-highly recommend trying that too! The coffee was just okay, not particularly memorable.

I got the butter sugar & custard crepe & it was fabulous. I also got a large latte & it was awesome. The service was so friendly. I am so grateful. I loved their live plants. The server allowed me to take a snip from their plant so happily & I am extremely grateful for that. I'm taking good energy from their place through this plant clipping. Highly recommend. Lovely atmosphere. Good prices.
