Diners encounter a space defined by high ceilings and exposed brickwork, fostering a focused environment conducive to concentrated appreciation of the meal. The kitchen maintains rigorous standards, crafting everything from artisanal terrines to complex sauces from scratch. Le Clocher Penché is widely regarded as a standout dining destination in Quebec City, known for its creative menu, professional service, and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant is often noted for its warm and welcoming staff who take the time to guide diners through unique culinary offerings, making it a reliable choice for both special occasions and casual visits. While most visitors leave with high praise for the consistently excellent food and wine selections, a few noted that the intimate space can become warm during peak summer weather, and individual tastes regarding the menu's adventurous combinations can vary.
Delicious French fare in a relaxed & upscale vibe. There is no wrong choice. We started with the bread & mushroom butter & the scallops were perfect. Next, I had the pasta which was perfect -- & I don't even like red sauces! My husband had a fantastic Icelandic cod & we ended on the amazing creme brulé & macaron. Truly you can't go wrong here.
The service here is excellent & never have I ever felt the need to ask for something. They even offered to call us a taxi back to our hotel at the end of the night as they correctly assumed that we were from out of town! Since I needed to drive & my partner doesn't drink alchohol, we order two incredible mocktails that were a great complement to our meal. So here we are with the in-depth food review. Portion sizes were very good as they were large enough that we were able to order a starter, entre, & share a dessert at the end. Being from Rhode Island (AKA the Ocean State), I could not resist the temptation of the Fish of the day (Icelandic Cod). Very flavorful & surprisingly refreshing. Although I personally liked the Braised Short rib, my partner thought that it was a little bit under seasoned & could use some more sauce. The bread was also really fun to eat. 9/10
We read about this restaurant in a local review on "up & coming" places & it turned out to be the best meal during our three-week visit to Quebec. The PEI oysters were so fresh & delicious they put our previous samplings to shame. The scallops were large but tender & sweet, topped with daikon radish & a light sauce. The cod was tender & mild. The crême brulee lacked the dense texture I'd prefer, but the flavor was amazing. The yeast rolls were sublime & the Greek wine just perfect. The service was friendly & accommodating. It was also our most expensive meal, but worth every penny!

We were looking for a high quality, but not a pretentious resto, when we visited QC & this place was highly recommended when I researched for best restaurants in QC. it didn't fail us. Beautiful decor with an open kitchen ambiance. Very polite, attentive staff. We got the fish of the day ( delish) , oysters, blood pudding ( its smoked sour cream was like nothing we tasted before) , the venison was very well cooked & juicy in its sauce. I got the Blue nuit, a tasty strong blueberry based gin cocktail , & my friend an Pilsner. All around we enjoyed our meal & experience very much . Highly recommended.
Pricing & portions made sense.
