It was the first evening of our trip, & we were really looking forward to our first meal in Quebec. However, it turned out to be a very rude welcome to a very beautiful city. We ordered the Seafood Linguine & Cod Fish & Chips. The food was really delicious, but the portion sizes, especially for the fish & chips, were very low, considering the price. It turned out to be an overpriced meal that wasn't filling enough. The real shocker came at the end. The waiter who took our order brought us our bill, & he was just peering down at what I was entering as a tip. When he saw that I switched to a 10% tip, instead of the default setting of 15%, he just rudely turned away with the credit card machine as soon as the payment was done. It was a very rude gesture intentionally made to show that he wasn't happy with the tip. I wouldn't have bothered to switch the tip percentage to 10% had I been that happy with the service. I don't remember the name of the waiter, but it was the night of 31 August 2024.
I ordered the Philly-style cheesesteak, which came with a side of'au jus' & fries which I upgraded to poutine fries. The sandwich itself was decent, but the'au jus' was a huge letdown. It was a thick, overly peppery sauce with an odd sweetness that didn't pair well at all. If you're looking for something to dip your sandwich in, I'd highly recommend going for a French onion soup. My girlfriend ordered it, & once I used her soup as the dip, the cheesesteak was so much better. Unfortunately, the poutine didn't impress either-it lacked the richness & flavor you'd expect, making the overall meal fall short of expectations. Despite the food, the service was excellent. Philippe, our waiter, was attentive & friendly, which made the experience more enjoyable. Sadly, the meal itself just wasn't a culinary highlight.
Fantastic restaurant with a great breakfast/brunch menu. I got the eggs Benedict with lox & she got the vegan sandwich. The food was incredible. The potato's were nice & crispy & the hollandaise sauce on the eggs was so flavorful. The waiter even brought us fruit smoothies to try for free. The coffee was great & the restaurant was clean & well decorated. The bathroom facilities were state of the art with a really cool sink/hand dryer combo. This place was incredible!
The food was not bad, but I was waiting something more flavourful. The service was good (we spoke in English with the waiter). We got a table in a small room, so it was not super comfortable.
There are other locations I preferred. This one is less relaxed.
Restaurant très sympa rue saint jean ( un autre existe rue Champlain mais non testé). Plats variés du Québec service nickel & vin correct ! A recommande
