Bistro Le SAM offers a sophisticated dining experience set within the iconic Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, boasting breathtaking panoramic views of the St. Lawrence River. Visitors frequently praise the elegant atmosphere and the thoughtfully prepared menu, with standouts like the rich French onion soup, fresh lobster rolls, and perfectly cooked meats. While experiences can vary based on seating and individual service interactions, many guests highlight the professional and attentive staff who contribute to a memorable visit. Whether stopping by for a scenic lunch, a special celebration, or a relaxing evening, the restaurant provides a high-end setting that captures the charm and historical prestige of Quebec City.
Bistro Le Sam is located on the lobby level of the Chateau Frontenac. It offers beautiful views of the river & a decent selection of food & drink. The prices are high but that's kind of a given considering its location. We were staying at the hotel so we visited a few times & had great service each time. The bar makes delicious margaritas.

Quelle honte, Fairmont ! »
Enjoyed lunch here after the chills & thrills of the Dufferin Terrace toboggan. It's a mere less than 5 minute walk between the two.
The Chateau is beautifully decorated for Christmas this time of year & is bustling & hustling with people.
I highly recommend the French onion soup which is a hearty serving of delicious soup that stands as a main on its own. The soup to onion & cheese ratio was perfect which is a feat that few restaurants seem to achieve & makes the $25 price a bit more palatable (no pun intended).
We also ordered the club sandwich &, while good, it didn't stand up to the French onion soup & truly wasn't worthy of the $35 price.
Dining at Bistro Le Same comes with a significant price tag because of its location inside the Chateau & the prestige that comes along with it.
We had a lovely dining experience at Bistro Le SAM & truly appreciated the warm, attentive service that made our anniversary dinner feel special.
My wife had the Château burger, which she really enjoyed. I tried the Niçoise-style tuna, which wasn't quite to my personal taste. We also had a Québec-style hot spiced wine, which was excellent, & finished with a delicious crème brûlée.
A special thank you to our server for the thoughtful complimentary dessert. While the food is on the pricier side for what it is, the overall experience was memorable.
We ate at Bistro Le Sam as our first meal in Quebec after arriving at Chateau Frontenac for a stay. I'd booked the table well in advance.
The restaurant is huge, & we saw walk in customers being accommodated without issue.
The food was only OK despite the price tag, & the service was pretty dreadful. We watched the server walk around the restaurant with our appetizer plate going from table to table before it arrived.
Then, no one came to clear our appetizer away before our main course turned up. Cue the server having to put our dishes down to clear, & then provide us with new cutlery.
We didn't see a server again until the bill was requested.
For a restaurant in a five star hotel, this is far below a five star dining experience. Disappointed.
