Le SAM Bistro Évolutif offers an elegant and memorable dining experience set within the iconic Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. Guests frequently highlight the breathtaking, panoramic views of the St. Lawrence River and the sophisticated, inviting atmosphere that makes the venue perfect for both special occasions and casual social gatherings. While the menu is noted for being on the pricier side, many diners find the high-quality ingredients, such as the popular French onion soup, lobster rolls, and expertly prepared steaks, to be worth the cost. Service is often described as professional, warm, and attentive, though experiences can vary. Overall, the combination of a stunning location, consistent culinary offerings, and a refined setting creates a destination that many travelers and locals alike choose to revisit.
Excellente expérience. Une petite bouchée & un bon verre de vin en vaut le détour. Menu intéressant. Cuisine réputée. & service hors pair par Thomas, accueillant, stylé & très professionnel. Nous recommandons sans hésitation.
The food is always excellent, but what truly stands out is the service. A sincere thank you to Roxanne, the manager, & Laurent, our waiter, for making our last visit - a special occasion - truly memorable. They genuinely go out of their way to accommodate us, & it never goes unnoticed.
While the service by the hostesses was good & my food was good, there were several other issues that make a visit to this restaurant not worth it in my opinion.
The food is very overpriced for what it is, & my husbands steak was over cooked.
We had a reservation & it took 25 minutes to seat us.
The table they sat us at was wobbly & small. When they brought the food, they had trouble to fit it all & blamed the small table. Why, as a restaurant, would you have tables too small for your plates?? When asked to move they told us there was no room, despite seeing several other empty tables. Also, the chairs were huge so that when you lie back, you cant hear the person across from you! So we had to lean forward all night, giving me a back ache.
The server was clumsy, which wasnt a huge deal, but when the server's station is right next to your table & he keeps dropping water & salt, its a little disturbing.
Overall, paid a large amount for mediocre experience.

Came for a late lunch & was able to get seated at the counter bar which is actually what we prefer. Lovely bar decor with a good selection of drinks.
The charcuterie board was tasty & well worth it. Portion is actually enough to share between 2-3 people. Was told all the ingredients on the board are sourced locally.
Well worth a visit especially if you can get a table on the balcony as the view is astounding.
Enjoyed lunch here after the chills & thrills of the Dufferin Terrace toboggan. It's a mere less than 5 minute walk between the two.
The Chateau is beautifully decorated for Christmas this time of year & is bustling & hustling with people.
I highly recommend the French onion soup which is a hearty serving of delicious soup that stands as a main on its own. The soup to onion & cheese ratio was perfect which is a feat that few restaurants seem to achieve & makes the $25 price a bit more palatable (no pun intended).
We also ordered the club sandwich &, while good, it didn't stand up to the French onion soup & truly wasn't worthy of the $35 price.
Dining at Bistro Le Same comes with a significant price tag because of its location inside the Chateau & the prestige that comes along with it.
I cannot express my joy in my experience. From the moment we checked in, the hostess was inviting, & asking us about how trip & our experience in the city so far. Our waiter was prompt, present, & continuously asking us if we needed anything. My'Garden Mule' was very ginger-spicy, but delicious. My partner enjoyed her flank steak. I cannot put into words the elation upon eating my pork ribs. Succulent, fall off the bone, flavorful, & extraordinary do not scratch the surface. By far some of the best pork ribs I've eaten, period. My best meal of our trip so far. Their fries were nicely seasoned & cooked & we enjoyed everything. Clean plate. The warm caramel chocolate pudding was also a great way to end off our meal. Stellar experience.
Si je pouvais, je donnerais une sixième étoile au service. Nous y allons au moins une fois par année & chaque fois nous sommes comblés. La cassolette de fruits de mer est un incontournable.
We had such a wonderful experience at Fairmont's Bistro Le Sam during our first visit to Quebec. The food was absolutely delicious!!! The lobster roll & caviar was a standout & easily one of the best we've had. Every bite was fresh, flavorful & perfectly prepared.
What truly made the experience unforgettable though, was Sherri, who took such great care of our table. She was incredibly warm, attentive & welcoming. She made our first time in Quebec feel extra special. Her kindness & recommendations added so much to the overall experience.
Between the amazing food, beautiful atmosphere & exceptional service, Bistro Le Sam will always be a memorable part of our trip. We can't wait to come back!!
What a fabulous lunch! First of all we had the best seat in the house with a river view. They were lovely about accommodating gluten free. Our lobster rolls were huge & delicious. Couldn't have been nicer.
