Great view & elegant design with friendly service, the mashed burgers were just fabulous so were the crème brûlée unlike the French ones but with better texture.
Absolutely amazing view from our window table. Onion soup to die for! Crème brûlée was amazing. Our waiter, Laurent, was fantastic! Our first meal on our first visit to Quebec City was lovely!
Spouce & I arrived at scheduled reservation, & placed on two lines: one checkin line before entering the restaurant, & a second at the restaurant- about a 10-15 minute process. Once inside the restaurant, at the second check in we were told that a mix up with our reservation had occur & that we had to wait a bit longer. Once seated we had great views facing the water front. We ordered dinner & drinks. I ordered a glass of rose to go with my dinner, but after about a 20 wait, the waiter reported no more of the rose & instead brought a bottle of a wine that tasted like a Sav-Blanc which I had already told him I did not like. I settled on a red wine. (Limited choices of wines by glass unless you order the whole bottle). The service was slow, the waiter seemed confuse but polite, the food was just okay. You merely pay for the views of the waterfront. Nice views but disappointing dining experience, especially for the price of dinner.
The food was not good- my steak was ordered medium rare & came out well done, & was a very thin piece. Not worse the high prices… The views are beautiful though & service is pretty good.
Our second time at the castle & we enjoyed. You can't beat the view. The food was great of course, but I think people come here mostly just to snack, drink, watch The view & socialize. The food menu perhaps had four items on it. All that were pretty good, but on the pricey side. I guess you're paying for the view.
We did booked a table for after lunch tea, coffee, & dessert. They sat us with a good table with a view to the river. The hostess & our server were both friendly, professional, & attentive.
We cannot judge about the main dishes. May be next time when we try them & update the review more accurately.
Outstanding restaurant. The food was gourmet quality & the service impeccable. The setting is elegant & tasteful & the view os the St. Lawrence River was peaceful & satisfying.
Bistro Le Sam is located on the lobby level of the Chateau Frontenac. It offers beautiful views of the river & a decent selection of food & drink. The prices are high but that's kind of a given considering its location. We were staying at the hotel so we visited a few times & had great service each time. The bar makes delicious margaritas.
