Slow & careless service
Food nothing that impresses, it can be compared to any neighborhood coffee shop. Super over price for the quality & service, in my opinion it is more the fame for the view than what it really is. . I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Servicio lento y descuidado
comida nada que impresione , se puede comparar con cualquier cafetería de vecindario . Súper over price para la calidad y el servicio , en mi opinión es más la fama por la vista que lo que realmente es. . No lo recomendaría a nadie .
We came here for dinner on Canada Day & had an amazing experience. You definitely need to make sure you have reservations, especially when there are lots of festivals or events taking place in the city. All staff working at this bistro were super friendly & kind. Our waiter was very kind & made an effort to make our experience more than just about the meal. However, the meal was fantastic. It's definitely a more costly experience, but for this restaurant I would say it was worth the cost because not only was the food good. The experience was great.
A memorable lunch inside the Château Frontenac
Le Sam is not just about the view - though the panoramic windows overlooking the St. Lawrence River are absolutely stunning - the food holds its own. We had lunch here & everything from service to plating felt refined yet unpretentious.
Here's what we ordered & loved:
Grilled asparagus - Lightly charred & drizzled with a tangy vinaigrette, a refreshing starter.
Salmon tartare - Fresh, clean flavors with a nice crunch from the chips. Simple & elegant.
Pork ribs - Tender & flavorful, with a sweet BBQ-style glaze. Very comforting.
Bavette steak - Rich & meaty with just the right chew, well-executed & satisfying.
Filet mignon with foie gras - The highlight of the meal. Perfectly cooked tenderloin topped with seared foie gras that simply melts in your mouth. Luxurious & unforgettable.
Service was attentive but never rushed, & the ambiance - elegant, sunlit, & relaxed - made the whole experience feel special.
💡Tip: Book ahead & request a window seat - the view adds so much to the experience.
Whether you're staying at the Château or just visiting Old Quebec, Le Sam is worth a stop for a scenic & delicious me
Once we got our table, we waited long time to get our order taken. Once we ordered we waited more than an hour to get the appetizers. The table was extremely small & we had to ask the server to clear the table & to replace the used cutlery.
As for the food goes, for the location itself, it was expected to be better. We had a club sandwich, which was very dried & 1 hamburger that honestly wasn't made from scratch. You can tell it was pre-made. We were not given an opportunity to address these issues as the server never came to ask if it was Ok.
Wanted to give my sincere opinion.
Sam bistro has all the ingredients to be 100% better.
The ambiance & atmosphere of the restaurant was phenomenal, food on the other hand was simply average. Fries were soggy, poutine was cold(cheese didn't melt, beef was cold). Nothing special. I've had dinner at other Fairmont locations where I found the food to be way tastier & better quality. Service was also nothing exceptional. Wouldn't recommend.
I am giving this place 3 stars because the food truly was delicious, but our experience wasn't so much.
I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant. We travelled 7 hours to come to Quebec City for a bachelorette. We thought this restaurant would be a great fit & decided to make reservations from February for June. Our reservation was for 8PM, keep in mind we were there for a bachelorette so timing is important as we had reservations all day, including to go to a bar after dinner. The day of the reservation we get a notification saying the reservation was pushed to 8:15. Sure no problem. We get there for 8:15, & we are told it's going to be a minimum 30 min before we can get our table. The worst is the girl at the front said she didn't even know what time & she'couldn't guarantee' anything. At this point, we are a group of 11 girls with no where to go & being told they can't guarantee us a table, the bride was extremely upset. We then asked to speak to a manager, the manager came & repeated the same details, only that he could get us a table at the bar to wait at until our table could be ready. Again unable to confirm time. We asked if we would get compensation for this delay, his response was to just order & pay for your drinks & i'll have to see what I can do only once our seated for dinner. Literally could not even offer anything to us or commit to it.
Truthfully him saying he would give us a few appetizers or any discount would have made us okay. While we are sympathetic to things happening, the fact that he couldn't commit to any compensation was utterly so disappointing. We sat at the bar for an additional hour, & only got seated at 9PM. We had to pay full price for our meals & drinks no compensation, & all that was sent was a compensatory dessert tray for the bride. For an hour delay to a reservation of such a large party, that really didn't do it for us.
So so so disappointed in such an establishment. We missed our reservation at the bar afterwards & the night was entirely ruined due to this.
Le Sam Bistro, located within the magnificent Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, provided us with an exceptional dining experience that perfectly complemented our luxurious stay. As hotel guests, we were looking forward to enjoying a meal in-house, & Le Sam certainly didn't disappoint.
The ambiance of the bistro was both elegant & relaxed, with stylish interiors & large windows that created a warm, inviting atmosphere. From our table, we were able to enjoy a breathtaking view of the St. Lawrence River, which added an unforgettable backdrop to our dining experience & made our meal feel even more special.
We started with the fried calamari, which was crispy on the outside & tender inside-expertly seasoned & served with a flavourful dipping sauce. For small bites, we also shared the baby back ribs glazed with bbq & whisky sauce. The standout dish for us was the fish & chips, served with a creative twist: we added foie gras to elevate the dish. The result was indulgent & memorable-the richness of the foie gras paired beautifully with the crispy, flaky fish.
Service was attentive, making the entire meal enjoyable. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful lunch. Dining at Le Sam Bistro was a highlight of our time at the Château Frontenac, & we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality meal paired with exceptional views in the heart of Quebec City.
Fabulous! Excellent service & we loved our time at this bistro. Sadly didn't get seated by the riverfront but will give it a try next time.
