Review Summary

L'Échaudé is widely regarded as a staple in Old Quebec, celebrated for its authentic French cuisine and charming atmosphere. Many diners praise the exceptional quality of dishes such as the duck confit, scallops, and beef tartare, noting that the food often balances creativity and tradition. While the service is frequently described as professional, attentive, and welcoming, some experiences are occasionally impacted by longer wait times or inconsistent pacing during busy periods. The restaurant offers a variety of dining options, including a pleasant terrace and a cozy interior, making it a popular destination for both special occasions and casual visits. Although individual preferences regarding portion sizes and flavor profiles vary, the overall consensus highlights L'Échaudé as a memorable and high quality culinary destination.

Fantastic service, excellent cocktails & wine list. Starters were outstanding, but main courses disappointed; salmon was a tad overcooked & the lobster gnocchi "with morels" had none. Had I known the kitchen was "immorel" I would have chosen a different dish. Desserts & coffee helped finish on a sweet note. We'll return, but next time stick to a selection of small plates.

Always delicious & fun. French wine selection by the bottle is excellent. One of the best streets in Lower Town for al fresco dining in the summer.

Overall the food & ambiance was great but our server was horrible. Would've been another great meal in Quebec if it wasn't for our server who ignored us all evening. Middle aged man, maybe 50, brownish hair, partly curly with glasses. If you get him ask to sit in another section. He forgot to come back in a timely manner to get our wine order, didn't check on us once or ask how our meal was or if we needed anything, never refilled our water unless we blatantly flagged him down & was rude about a bill discrepancy.

Like I said food & ambiance was great so likely you'll have a better experience so long as you get any other server.

Charming & friendly bistro with a menu that combines comfort with freshness. Could be a local favorite in a small town in France! Service is fast, friendly & efficient. Nice wines by the glass.

A nice restaurant that has tablecloths but still seems fairly casual. The food was good. I had a special of vegetable soup & red snapper for a main. Both good. The wine by the glass was a bit limited. I ordered a Portuguese white but it was out. The waitress offered a similar substitute that she thought was French. It turned out to be from Quebec which was a more interesting choice & I wish I had known it was available from the start.

Such a welcoming & kind place to visit. Although we were English speaking, our waiter was polite & made us feel like an insider & at home. The food was fantastic & they have a wonderful choice of wines.

Great service & delicious food, but rather crowded & noisy (a victim of its own popularity) on a Friday afternoon (12:30 - 2 p.m.).
Excellent wine list.

We thouroughlybenjoyed our supper. We had the Bone marrow with pancetta & the scallops to start. Both were delicious. Then the sudkiling pig & the fish of the day. We had a glass of wine each & a cocktail & beer. Bill came to $160 without tip. Service was good & nice atmosphere. Portion size was good.
