Malgré un emplacement parfait & une décoration magnifique, notre première (& dernière malheureusement) expérience & ce lors de notre anniversaire de couple, nous a grandement déçue!
La soirée à commencée avec un accueil complètement manqué. Nous pretextant que la serveuse (la seule ce soir là vraisemblablement) était débordée avec des grands groupes.
Plusieurs dizaines de minutes se sont écoulées avant qu'on vienne finalement nous saluer à notre table & apportez de l'eau (que nous avons dû demander).
Entre temps, les tables autour de nous, également sans aucun service commencèrent également à s'impatienter. L'une d'entre elles quitta même avant de recevoir leur premier verre.
Voyant tout ce retard nous avons pris l'intiative d'accrocher l'hôtesse pour demander de commander notre premier verre ainsi que notre repas pour éviter que le tout s'étire.
Une autre table quitta derrière nous.
Puis on m'apporta le mauvais verre de vin.
L'entrée de la table d'hôte plutôt simple, mal exécutée & sans saveur. La cuisson inadéquate (des crevettes…). Une autre déception.
Le temps entre les services a été rapide.
Les sushis, très standards, loin du calibre qu'un tel prix promet. Décevant.
Toujours aucune trace de notre serveuse à ce stade. Hôtesse, suiteur & le directeur se succèdent & s'entremêlent dans les étapes de notre soirée.
Manque d'eau constant, il a fallu être au devant de nos besoins & se manifester pour avoir le peu de service nécessaire.
Au final, quelques erreurs sur la facture ont nécessité un retour au TPV pour un remboursement sans même proposer quelquonque solution pour s'excuser de cette soirée décevante.
En résumé, employés courtois & empathiques, manque d'employés & d'expérience en salle à manger. Service lent (voire absent) & décevant. Nourriture décevante & pas à la hauteur du statut du restaurant & du prix. Plusieurs tables quittent sans meme avoir commandé, malgré un restaurant plutot vide.
Il s'agira de notre première & dernière visite au Niji malheureusement.
We arrived at 6:30 p.m. & waited 15-20 minutes just to get our drinks. After that, no one came back to see us.
We saw a couple leave after about 45 minutes without being served, & we eventually left ourselves after one full hour.
We were later told that many staff members were on vacation & that the restaurant did not expect so many customers this time of year since it is a new establishment. However, there is a Christmas market literally right outside, with heavy foot traffic. The volume of customers should not have been a surprise.
The kitchen clearly couldn't keep up, & most tables were not being served. A nice decor does not make up for a complete lack of service, both from the kitchen & the front of house. This is a blatant management issue.
If delays are unavoidable, the least you can do is inform customers that the wait will be longer than expected, instead of letting them waste their time.
L'endroit était bien , c'etait bien décorée avec une ambiance très calme . La nourriture était très bonne! Notre serveuse était malheureusement , pas du tout souriante & n'avait pas l'air d'avoir envie de travailler & sont service était très long. Un des cocktails goûtait l'eau pour 16$, on a demandé un autre elle faisais exprès de ne pas le commander on a dû attendre 15-20 min pour en recevoir un autre même si c'était tranquille dans le restaurant … le gérant a su bien nous servir en revanche !

Vraiment une belle expérience! Malgré le rush, le gérant & son équipe ont été vraiment attentionnés & les plats sont arrivés rapidement tout de même. C'était délicieux & le rapport qualité prix est très bon. Le décor est magnifique aussi.
Based on our recent dinner for six at Niji Sushi located at 954 rue St. Jean in Quebec, we encountered an experience that, despite a beautiful & serene setting, was ultimately defined by significant operational shortcomings. The restaurant's interior is undoubtedly aesthetically pleasing, creating a tranquil & elegant atmosphere. However, the initial promise of a sophisticated evening quickly gave way to frustration due to an exceptionally slow pace of service that plagued our entire visit.
The service issues were apparent from the start. Our server, while polite, seemed overwhelmed & ill-equipped to manage the table. A fundamental misstep occurred with our drink order; both the champagne & the Sancerre arrived at room temperature, a basic error that significantly detracted from our enjoyment & set a disappointing tone for the meal. This was compounded by an excessively long wait for our food, leaving our large party feeling neglected & highlighting a clear lack of coordination in the dining room.
In an attempt to streamline the experience, we agreed to an $80 per person'surprise' selection from the chef. Unfortunately, the resulting meal was surprisingly average & failed to justify the wait or the price point. The dishes lacked the innovation & freshness one would expect from a sushi restaurant in this category, ultimately feeling more like a collection of standard offerings than a curated, omakase-style experience. The flashy presentation & upscale decor could not compensate for the underwhelming substance of the food itself.
In conclusion, Niji Sushi presents a facade of elegance that its current service & culinary execution cannot support. Between the un-chilled wines, the painfully slow service, & the below average food for the price, our evening was a letdown. While the space is beautiful, the overall experience was one of style over substance. We cannot see a reason to return & would caution others seeking a refined Japanese dining experience to manage their expectations or look elsewhere.

We were immediately greeted by a young man with a great smile & friendly demur.
Nicely decorated place.
The waitress was at our side immediately, with a wet, hot towel; very traditional.
& again, so friendly & very knowledgeable about the menu.
She quickly convinced us to let the chefs choose our meal. That was a fun twist.
We weren't disappointed. The food was nothing short of amazing. Beautifully presented &'melt in your mouth'.
We were shocked to hear that they have only been open for three weeks. As soon as more people try this place, I am convinced making reservations will become an absolute necessity.
I am looking forward to the next time we are in Quebec City. This will be the first meal we have again!
La fraîcheur du poisson y est. Par contre, pour le prix dépensé, la grosseur des sushis laissent à désirer & certaines saveurs y sont camouflées. Le service était bien, beaucoup de personnels disponibles, mais un petit manque au niveau des conseils autant sur le vin que des sushis. Les décors sont magnifiques.
Décoration magnifique & immersive. Les maki (deluxe) étaient malheureusement fades & (trop) petits, les sashimi par contre frais & goûteux. Le restaurant semble en rodage, les serveuses étaient souriantes mais par contre ne savaient plus la composition des plats ('sauce je ne sais plus') & pas mal de gaffes (chapeau de la bouteille de sauce soya qui tombe dans la coupelle, vin servi tiède malgré le tout mentionné à la dégustation, verre rempli une seule fois dans le repas,...). Un peu déçu au final & loin du niveau d'un Sushi box par exemple.
We had the opportunity to visit this new restaurant during their opening week (on day two). The decor is fresh, modern & beautiful… the use of pink colors of the Japanese cherry blossoms throughout gives the restaurant a touch of elegant sophistication. We sat at the sushi bar with direct view of sushi chef & fish sampling. The menu is extensive & offers variety of options & quality fish. We were pleasantly impressed.
Aller au Niji Sushi Bar, c'est vraiment une expérience. Mention au personnel qui sont dévoués, gentils & vraiment à l'écoute. Pour les goûts en tant que tel, gros coup de coeur. Mention spécial à la mignonette des huîtres ainsi que les sushis poêlés au foie gras qui fut un véritable coup de coeur pour moi & mon amie. Le décor également, québec avait grandement besoin d'un endroit de sushis comme celui là. 💕🤍
