Review Summary

Parmesan in Old Quebec City is widely celebrated for its warm, festive, and authentic Italian atmosphere, further elevated by lively live accordion music that creates a truly memorable dining experience. Many visitors praise the restaurant for its charming, character-filled decor and exceptional service, with numerous staff members frequently recognized for their friendliness, professionalism, and attentive care. While a significant portion of guests rave about the delicious, generous portions and high-quality meals, others note varied opinions regarding food consistency and pricing. Despite some mixed feedback on specific dishes and overall value, the restaurant remains a popular destination where guests often feel welcomed like family, making it a highly recommended spot for celebrations and special occasions in the city.

Tried smoked salmon pasta, second best taste Italian noodles I have had. The dish is a bit smaller than I expected, especially considering the price.

First of all the service here was very very good. These people seemed pretty understaffed & packed but were very attentive as a team. My wife got manicotti she didn't like it but only because the pesto pasta was very strong & flavorful. It was very good pasta. A very well put together dish. I got Alfredo with chicken it was Olive Gardenesque . Not bad & not great. As you read in other review the bread is weird hard cold crunchy bread mixed with cold regular bread & ice cold unspreadable butter. I have eaten in 100's of Italian restaurants this isn't a normal thing. They also have an accordion player. It's pretty cool. You can tell the guy is loved & its the real true mystique & draw of the place. He is very talented . In a city full of amazing restaurants i probably wouldn't go back here. Also, not to be a jerk but it's kinda tacky & childish to put a (.) as a response to a bad review . In fact you literally ask someone why 3 stars not 4 & it almost made me go back & change my review to 3 . When i basically only give 5's Yah yah i know you don't care. 4.1

My daughter & I had a mini getaway to Quebec City for my birthday. This restaurant was highly recommended my locals. I'm gluten free. & not so easy at a Italian restaurant. I was mistaken! Joe was our waiter, & he was fun, kind & made a memorable experience. They brought a delicious cake to wish me a happy birthday with the staff, & the resident musician, who was playing the accordion beautifully throughout our dinner experience. The gluten free Alfredo pasta. Was no joke, the best I have ever had!! It's worth a trip to Quebec City to have it again!

One of the best Italian food places in Quebec to have dinner. Food is outstanding, fresh, excellent favor & just so good we ate there twice during our visit to Quebec City.

Loved the atmosphere but food was just okay at best, & highly overpriced. The veal Parmesan which is their featured dish was almost $40, but hardly had any cheese or tomato sauce on it. The spaghetti that came with it wasn't even that good. If it's any consolation the calamari appetizer was much better & the espresso was one of the better ones I've had in a long time. I asked if they had any affogato (espresso poured on gelato) for dessert but the waiter had no idea what it was. That's as simple of a dessert as it gets. Not sure how they consider themselves as an Italian restaurant based o a few of these points alone. Oh ya one more thing.... the gentleman on the accordion was good which her husband contributed to the atmosphere & also attracting people o to the restaurant. If this is their normal food for this price go elsewhere.

Quaint Italian restaurant in the heart of French Quebec City. Food was tasty, service prompt & friendly, price reasonable for the location. Go.

My husband & I really enjoyed dining at this quaint Italian restaurant for dinner this evening! We made reservations for 5:30 pm at the last minute & walked over from the Hilton. What fun decor & excellent service we enjoyed to go along with the incredible meal! We split a Ceasar salad (which had homemade croutons) & split the rich lasagna. Both were so fresh, so authentic & served quickly. What a surprise when a gentleman started playing an accordion! We learned that Parmesan has been open for 50 years, & no wonder, as it was a delight! We highly recommend this restaurant in Quebec!

We were in the area & were looking to grab a bite for dinner. We drove by Parmesan Restaurant & figured we'd book an online reservation (recommended) & check it out. The hostess seated us promptly. Our drink order was filled pretty quickly. The restaurant uses ALL available space for both its patrons & tchotchkes. It's almost overwhelming how much there is to see as you look around. It took some time to place our order & almost 50 minutes before our food arrived. If you're in a hurry, this isn't the place for you. Getting the check took some time as well. The workers are always moving & hustling, especially the bus staff & food runners. It's just a busy place. The accordian player was a nice touch to add to the ambiance. The food was good, so great. I saw a lot of negative reviews on the complimentary bread. There were (2) kinds in the basket we received. One was soft & the other crunchy. The soft although not warm was pretty good (small basic italian) We had (2) entrees & a beer, & the bill was over $100. This is not a fancy restaurant, but rather a staple to the area with a rich history. Worth a one-time visit for us.
