About

Restaurant Ouroboros emphasizes a hyper-local culinary approach centered on the seasonal availability of market-fresh ingredients. The menu prioritizes regional Quebec produce, showcasing raw textures and traditional preservation techniques that define its bistronomic identity. Guests encounter a straightforward progression of plates where the natural integrity of vegetables and meats remains the focal point of every presentation. Minimalist preparation styles ensure that the inherent characteristics of local harvests take precedence over elaborate culinary manipulation. The environment fosters a focused engagement with the regional supply chain through a layout that prioritizes communal flow and direct interaction with the culinary workspace. This operation demonstrates a commitment to sustainable sourcing by reflecting the changing landscape of nearby fields and farms directly on the plate without unnecessary ornamental flourishes.

Review Summary

Restaurant Ouroboros is widely recognized for its creative, seasonally-inspired menu and an exceptional selection of natural wines that cater to diverse tastes. Many visitors praise the restaurant as a standout culinary destination in Quebec City, highlighting the high quality of local ingredients and the attentive, knowledgeable service provided by the staff. While the small-plate, tapas-style approach is celebrated for allowing guests to explore a variety of inventive dishes, some diners express concerns regarding portion sizes relative to the price point. The atmosphere is generally described as stylish and sophisticated, though a small number of guests have encountered inconsistencies in service timing or felt the dining experience did not fully meet their expectations. Overall, the establishment earns strong recommendations for its innovation and flavor profiles, making it a popular choice for those seeking a unique gastronomic experience.

Came here for a second time to celebrate my wife's birthday, & as before we were incredibly happy with our choice. Our server, Daniel, was thoroughly passionate about both the wines & cuisine they offer, & takes the time to explain the full menu & natural wine choices in detail, helping us curate a meal service & pairing that was truly exceptional. We can be a but obscure in our wine preferences (we like funky, farmy, & far-out bio wines), but Daniel snapped to it & immediately found us three great choices, all between $60-$68 per bottle.

The food items are not huge, as other reviewers have noted, but that makes sense since the approach is to share a variety of dishes & flavours & allow the chefs to flex their creativity. We had the mushroom & buckwheat canneloni, the asparagus dumplings, & the lobster sabayon & toast duo, & finished every last bite of each.

This is a surprisingly underrated eatery for Quebec City, rivalling the likes of Battuto (which is nigh impossible to get a reservation at). Needless to say, we'll definitely be back.

We enjoyed the dining experience.

Food were writing on the board as they have a rotating menu. Menu was creative & particularly the sauce. Each dish speaks for itself & shows truly the chef's innovation.

The moment I saw the first dish I know we will have a great experience.

Highly recommended.

We will return to taste new menu that the Ouroboros could offer.

Sincerely,

Wonderful place for a quiet, intimate meal. Cozy & very relaxing atmosphere. Very nice & kind service (excellent English!). We got the chef's recommendation for 2 & every dish was perfect. The flavours were phenomenal. You can tell the quality of the ingredients & the love the chef put into the dishes - sweet, savoury, umami & slight acidity all played together in harmony in a single bite. Tldr; perfect place for a special occasion & to enjoy a farm to table experience with fresh ingredients.

It was my first visit to this charming little restaurant, & I had the most delightful dining experience. The chef is incredibly talented & creates delicious dishes using seasonal, locally sourced products. The menu changes regularly based on what's fresh & available. The staff are friendly & knowledgeable about the menu & beverage program. There is no formal wine list, but rather an ever changing selection of low intervention, organic wines, beer & cider which are suggested by the sommeliers. Customers also have the option to peruse available bottles on the wall & bring some home. Orobourous is one of the best dining experiences I've had in Quebec & will undoubtedly become more in demand as others discover this gem. Get there sooner than later! I can't wait to return!
