Came here for a second time to celebrate my wife's birthday, & as before we were incredibly happy with our choice. Our server, Daniel, was thoroughly passionate about both the wines & cuisine they offer, & takes the time to explain the full menu & natural wine choices in detail, helping us curate a meal service & pairing that was truly exceptional. We can be a but obscure in our wine preferences (we like funky, farmy, & far-out bio wines), but Daniel snapped to it & immediately found us three great choices, all between $60-$68 per bottle.
The food items are not huge, as other reviewers have noted, but that makes sense since the approach is to share a variety of dishes & flavours & allow the chefs to flex their creativity. We had the mushroom & buckwheat canneloni, the asparagus dumplings, & the lobster sabayon & toast duo, & finished every last bite of each.
This is a surprisingly underrated eatery for Quebec City, rivalling the likes of Battuto (which is nigh impossible to get a reservation at). Needless to say, we'll definitely be back.
My daughter & I visited Ouroboros during our trip to Quebec City, & it ended up being one of our favorite meals.
We arrived later in the day, & although they were able to fit us in, they let us know upfront that some items might be sold out since guests who were already seated would have first priority. I really appreciated that honesty. It set the tone for the entire experience & showed how much they value treating customers fairly.
When it came time to order, most of the menu was still available, & we ended up trying quite a few dishes. Every single one was outstanding. We loved the smaller portions because they allowed us to sample a variety of items & experience more of the menu.
Our favorite dish was the asparagus with egg & pesto. It was such a unique combination, & we're already talking about trying to recreate it at home. We especially loved how the chopped egg took on an almost cheese-like quality & added incredible flavor to the dish.
Our server was efficient, genuine, & helpful throughout the meal. We also loved the concept of a daily-changing menu built around fresh, local ingredients. You could truly taste the care, creativity, & freshness in every dish.
If I ever return to Quebec City, Ouroboros will absolutely be on my list of places to visit again.
Excellent & creative dishes, & very reasonable prices for the quality!
stylish, comfortable, welcoming with thoughtful well plated food. would definitely recommend, & can't wait to be back!
service was excellent, there was a bit of wait for certain items but overall very quick service. they have a great selection of ciders, which is what our party preferred.
when it comes the menu, these dishes were impressive & memorable:
moule, pois,herbe
flétan, sarrasin, haricot
tomate, feta,basilic
gnocchetti, champi,clos-des-roches
tarte & sorbet (dessert - was beautiful)
these were great:
concombre, livèche, louisette (?)
porc, moutarde, légume
these unfortunately were a bit of a miss, not a lot of flavour.
agneau, pain, radis
flétan, framboise, piment
The dishes were small but amazing! The host suggested that a table a 2 usually orders 5 dishes to share but our table of 4 only ordered 7. The Panna Cotta was so good that we ordered it twice!
The only dish that didn't blow us away was the sea bass sashimi, but it was still good.
The mussels picture was taken after we had already eaten 2 mussels.
While the dishes were small, they made up for it in flavor. To be full, it would probably go up to $100 CAD a person with drinks.
I wonder if the locals don't like this restaurant since it was empty when we went at 5:30pm & almost everyone that came spoke English. There isn't an English menu, but luckily, the host was very helpful in translating the menu.
We enjoyed a quiet mid-March, mid-week dinner at Ouroboros with congenial & personal service, as well as creative & well-executed dishes that made the most of local food, & excellent wine. Quebec City is such a special place, not least of all for its food & people, & Ouroboros definitely contributed to this positive impression for us. Merci!
Wonderful place for a quiet, intimate meal. Cozy & very relaxing atmosphere. Very nice & kind service (excellent English!). We got the chef's recommendation for 2 & every dish was perfect. The flavours were phenomenal. You can tell the quality of the ingredients & the love the chef put into the dishes - sweet, savoury, umami & slight acidity all played together in harmony in a single bite. Tldr; perfect place for a special occasion & to enjoy a farm to table experience with fresh ingredients.
It was my first visit to this charming little restaurant, & I had the most delightful dining experience. The chef is incredibly talented & creates delicious dishes using seasonal, locally sourced products. The menu changes regularly based on what's fresh & available. The staff are friendly & knowledgeable about the menu & beverage program. There is no formal wine list, but rather an ever changing selection of low intervention, organic wines, beer & cider which are suggested by the sommeliers. Customers also have the option to peruse available bottles on the wall & bring some home. Orobourous is one of the best dining experiences I've had in Quebec & will undoubtedly become more in demand as others discover this gem. Get there sooner than later! I can't wait to return!

A hidden gem that recently opened! Service was great, all the dishes were very interesting & well executed. Local ingredients cooked with modern techniques - the price point is very reasonable for the food!

We loved our meal at Ouroboros. We had a group of 5 & so tried almost everything on the menu that evening. All the dishes & service was excellent. The wine pairing suggestions were a delicious complement to the food. Bravo!
