Review Summary

Tora-Ya Ramen offers an authentic and cozy dining experience in Quebec City, reminiscent of traditional Japanese ramen shops. Visitors consistently praise the flavorful and comforting broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and standout dishes like the crispy, juicy karaage chicken and takoyaki. The atmosphere is warm and intimate, complemented by a friendly and professional team that provides efficient service. While the restaurant is popular and can get quite busy, guests find that the delicious food and overall quality make it well worth the wait. It is a highly recommended destination for those seeking a genuine taste of Japan with generous portions and a welcoming environment.

I tried the karaage chicken, & it was really good-crispy on the outside, juicy inside, & full of flavour. It came with a tasty dipping sauce that went well with the chicken. The place has a cozy feel, & I would come back to try the ramen next time.

Authentic ramen spot with great service & atmosphere. The karaage chicken was delicious. The ramen was good, but I believe it was just slightly bland. However, everyone has different palates when it comes to ramen, therefore I would still recommend it as a solid option compared to others in Quebec City!!

This ramen shop is a bit far from the Old Town - you'll need to take a bus to get there - but it's totally worth it! The ramen tastes really authentic & the broth isn't overly salty. The beer was perfectly cold & refreshing, & the fried chicken was surprisingly good! They use chicken breast instead of thigh meat, which was a nice surprise. If you have time to visit, I highly recommend trying their fried chicken - it's a must!

The ramen in Canada is often not hot enough, but at this place, it arrived steaming with smoke! It was a surprise! The ramen was authentic Japanese, simple flavor but it tasted very good.

My friend ordered the fried chicken, she said it was delicious!

The staff were very attentive. Even during busy hour, they noticed when guests finished their appetizers before serving the ramen. When our water ran low, they quickly refilled it.
Since I'm a vegetarian, I didn't eat my friend's fried chicken, & the staff noticed that & brought out my ramen first.

I didn't expect such thoughtful service at a ramen shop!

Vacationing from New Brunswick, solo & had to have some ramen while in Quebec. I will be back here!!! Sat at the counter. Atmosphere was on point. Loved looking up & seeing he inner workings for the business. Miso was buttery & the pork too melted in my mouth. So much so, I had to slow down the chewing to savour it, karaaga chicken was juicy with the spicy mayo & squeeze of lemon as the coup de grace, great pairing. It was a hot summer day & the Sapppro & Yuzu was more than I could have asked for. WORTH EVERY CENT! THANK YOU!!!

Nice little cozy shop. Our family of 7 went there at dinner time. Initially they said may need to split us in 2 tables but in the end gave us one big table. Staff were friendly. I ordered a miso-vege with kale noodles. Fantastic. The vegetables were very fresh. Normally I don't like bamboo shoot in Japanese style, but their bamboo shoot was fresh & the best tasting bamboo shoot I ever ate. My brother who hates vegetables also thought the vegetables tasted really good. I also ordered Umeshu. Best plum wine I drank outside Japan. My family ordered Kara-age (fried chicken). It was juicy & meat was fresh, with not too much starch powder or oil.

Some drawback to improve...

Need a better queuing system for customer. Initially I was a bit confused where to wait & whether need to inform staff that we would like to dine in when a lot of people was crowding around at the door.

Yasai Miso (ramen with meat) a bit on salty side.

Also the door was way too heavy to push open 😅

Everything was great except the food. The noodles were too hard. The chickens taste like plain boiled chickens. I'd never come back for something that's not so good but pricey. We spent over a 100 for 4 bowls of noodles & 4 pops. It's not worth it.

Great find in this beautiful city of Quebec!

Small & cozy place with great flavor bomb food.

The staff is friendly, tending to seat you as soon as possible. Word of advice, reserve or be prepared to wait a bit. There's always a queue.

The food is packed with flavor. The miso ramen broth is rich, yet delicate. The noodles are bouncy & hold the broth well. Also took the karage & it's very lightly breaded, which I prefer as you get to bite on the juicy chicken.

Another surprise is they have authentic melon Ramuné!

Saw that they have curry. Will have to try that next time!

Kimchi ramen had the *driest* chicken that I've ever had. Disappointing. I could tell it was cold refigerated chicken that was not heated up before placed in my bowl because some pieces (not submerged in broth) were cold. It was bearable when paired with the freshness of the kimchi, but ramen should not be relying on the toppings to mask the dryness of the protein.

Noodles, bean sprouts, corn, & egg were good. Broth was alright, creamy & full, but lacking a distinct standout flavor.
