Briefly met chefs Philippe & Emy while outside of our Airbnb nearby. They were so Canadian-friendly that we returned later that same day for dinner & they accommodated our group despite being fully booked.

Hands down the best meal in old town & probably of our QC trip overall.

We had the French onion soup. Beetroot & goat cheese salad. Seafood stew, & roasted chicken. Among the group there isn't anything we didn't love. Literally every dish was top notch. I couldn't believe how much I liked the beetroot salad or the tasty roasted chicken. Only issue is that I also really wanted the duck confit & cassoulet with duck & the beef cheeks. But. Couldn't possibly fit all that into one meal.

What I love the most is the elevated food without a pretentious atmosphere. The vibe is comfortable & it felt so nice to feel like we were not being served tourist food. Servers were knowledgeable & professional. Highly recommended.

Excellent service with knowledgeable staff. The chicken was sold out when writing got there on a Saturday evening which must mean it was good! We ordered the escargot, osso bucco & the duck. Good sized portions & very tender.

Great French cuisine restaurant in Old Quebec city. We highly recommend the mussels, duck confit, foie Gras, & onion soup.

Amazing experience! Our favorite meal in Quebec City & during our whole trip in Canada! The French onion soup, mussels, & duck were some of the best we have ever had! The server was also incredibly nice. A meal we will never forget! Definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time.

Ordered mussels (Dijon) & escargot for appetizers which were both 7/10. For main courses we ordered the duck leg, seafood stew & beef cheek which were delicious!

Our server, Devon, was super pleasant as well.

We were lucky to reserve a table to celebrate my Honey's birthday! It's a cozy & yet cute little place in the old city! They have a lovely decor to enhance the atmosphere. Customer service was excellent! The server was patient, very friendly & professional!
We had the Ragoût de la mer for myself & the cuisse de conard confite for the birthday boy. Both dishes were truly delicious! The richness of the broth served with tons of fresh shrimps, scallops, salmon, mussels, etc., & the slow roasted duck cooked to perfection!
We truly enjoyed the evening here!

Service & atmosphere was good, but food could be better done. Duck confit was dry & slightly overcooked, French onion soup tasted more like beef broth with added onions, lacked depth & richness. Beef cheek poutine was good.

french onion soup was superb. ceviche was not to our taste but wasn't bad. duck confit & the seafood stew were pretty good too. huge selection of wine. my only complaint would be the creme brulee was too sweet, custard too watery, & the caramel layer was too thick. otherwise everything was wonderful. the service was a delight!

The staff made my visit very enjoyable. The Beef Carpaccio tastes so good for an appetizer dish. The Seafood Stew (Ragout de la Mer) carries so much flavour & is filled with only quality seafood ingredients. The Cassoulet includes Duck Confit for really full flavour. Kudos to the chef (Philippe) for his meticulous choice of the best ingredients & his team's hard work to make these dishes outstanding. Also our thanks to our host & waiter Daevon for providing his excellent service to make my evening an unforgettable experience.

I finished the evening with a rich & creamy dessert with the Ameretto Creme Brulee. This dining experience will certainly guarantee my return to Bistro St-Malo!

Just ensure you make a reservation ahead of your visit. Walk-in visitors are likely to be turned away if it is a busy night.
