We ate here recently just for a drink & snack. The French onion soup was ok but the foie gras on a piece of toast for $27 was ridiculously overpriced & so bland. Shame because the service was good & the place is cute as. Maybe skip the pate & try something else….

My wife & I went here on Friday night & we thoroughly enjoyed our time. We split the French Onion soup which we loved as our starter. My wife had the seafood stew & I had the Poutine with beef cheek. Both were hits. Be forewarned, the Poutine is HUGE & could easily be split between two people. The beef cheek was amazing. We left very full & satisfied.

Found this place doing some research into must visit restaurants & boy, did we choose well.

I messed up our reservation but they were able to accommodate us right away.

The food was oustanding.
The four of us shared the:
-soup du jour (which was a velvety leek & potato cream soup)
- beet salad
- scallop seviche
- mussels with white wine & garlic
- flank steak
- roasted chicken
- beef cheek (which was the best beef cheek I've ever had, so tender you could use a spoon!)
- I highly recommend ordering the tarte tatin for dessert (Chef Philippe Racine's version is amazing!)
- they treated us to some French coulous with dessert (we loved it so much we purchased 2 bottles to bring home!)

& our server Daevon was just a delight. & guided us through the menu.

We will definitely be back again.

Merci pour tout!

Briefly met chefs Philippe & Emy while outside of our Airbnb nearby. They were so Canadian-friendly that we returned later that same day for dinner & they accommodated our group despite being fully booked.

Hands down the best meal in old town & probably of our QC trip overall.

We had the French onion soup. Beetroot & goat cheese salad. Seafood stew, & roasted chicken. Among the group there isn't anything we didn't love. Literally every dish was top notch. I couldn't believe how much I liked the beetroot salad or the tasty roasted chicken. Only issue is that I also really wanted the duck confit & cassoulet with duck & the beef cheeks. But. Couldn't possibly fit all that into one meal.

What I love the most is the elevated food without a pretentious atmosphere. The vibe is comfortable & it felt so nice to feel like we were not being served tourist food. Servers were knowledgeable & professional. Highly recommended.

The fish stew & the french onion soup were delicious. The stew had large portions of fish at a reasonable price. Very friendly & prompt service. Highly recommend!

We were in Quebec looking for a slightly elevated dining spot. There are so many fried food, pizza, & chicken wing options around Old Town, so we were thrilled to find Bistro St-Malo. It is a wonderful French bistro-style restaurant, & we were not disappointed. We started with the mussels appetizer, I had the excellent steak frites, & my wife had the seafood stew. The weather was very comfortable, so we got to sit outside on the sidewalk. To top it off, the draft beer was fresh & refreshing!

Amazing experience! Our favorite meal in Quebec City & during our whole trip in Canada! The French onion soup, mussels, & duck were some of the best we have ever had! The server was also incredibly nice. A meal we will never forget! Definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time.
