The food was amazing with a great balance of flavours in every dish. Had the French onion soup which was just the right saltines & consistency. Escargots were really nicely done. The confit duck leg in the cassoulet dish was fall-of-the bone tender. The seafood stew was very flavorful. My only wish was to have sliced baguette to soak up the sauces rather than the tougher dinner rolls.

Cozy atmosphere & very good food — mussels, french onion soup, tartiflette, wine, & profiteroles. If you are looking for a memorable evening at a classic Quebec bistro, this is the place.

We were greeted right away at the door. The two servers were hospitable & friendly. We ordered drinks & we ordered appies & our main right away. The appetizers came fairly quickly, French Onion soup & escargot. Both were exceptional. The escargot was slightly muted by excess butter & cheese, but overall great choices for us to whet our appetites. We were asked if we wanted our entrees right away, but we opted for a few minutes to digest & sip our local beer & white wine we ordered. The servers seemed to have impeccable timing as just as we were pretty much ready for our entrées, the server brought our food over. We had the canard du confit & moules de marinière. Both were cooked to perfection. The duck leg was moist & savory. The moules were tasty & juicy. Lastly we ordered the crème brûle & tartin. The tartin was amazing. Apple in between flaky pastry & brown sugar & cinnamon sauce, topped with a scoop of ice cream. It was to die for! The crème brule was the only slight disappointment, as the custard was cooked slightly too fast & left a grainy egg yolk flavour at the bottom of the dish. Overall my husband & I enjoyed our once in a few months dinner date together. It was slightly pricier than we normally spend, but worth the meal.

Well worth the reservation! A taste of French cuisine! Delicious food & attentive staff! Highly recommend it.

Cute ambiance, very french vibe & great music. Food is fresh & tasty.
We give it a 4.5 ✌
Definitely recommend

We were thrilled with our dinner at the Bistro St. Malo. Ian, the waiter was charming & attentive & took his time with us. Our food was delicious...we started with a creamy boeuf tartare. My husband loves duck confit & was not disappointed with the tender piece in his cassoulet. I had wonderfully plump moules frites in a cheese.& mustard sauce...the fries were amazing. A great bottle of French wine, a corner table by the window & a.warm & friendly atmosphere. A great spot in the lower part of the city.

Flavour city! This place is a must check out in Quebec city! Everything we got was packed with umami flavour; insanely delicious! 🤤 We booked a reservation for 6pm on Friday & the place filled up quite quickly so it is advisable to book a reservation to make sure you get a seat. There were some walk ins though & they were able to dine but always good to be safe!
To start we got a French onion soup 🧅🧀 & an order of escargots 🧀🐌. The French onion soup was cheesy & delicious, lots of chopped cooked onions & a ton of cheese! The escargots were buttery smooth & cooked perfectly with a layer of cheese to top the entire dish! 🧀🐌 Delicious starters to your meal if you are interested to try
For the mains, the first order we got an order of the Beef Cheek with vegetables cooked in duck fat 🐄🦆🥕🥔! This main is incredible it is packed with umami, savory saltiness & sweetness from the carrots. The beef cheeks were so incredibly soft you could eat everything with a spoon! I would 100% recommend getting this dish to try you will not be disappointed! We loved the flavour so much we asked if we could take the leftover sauce to go so that we could eat it with dipped bread! 🍞🥖
The second order we got was the Rabbit Rissoto 🐰, this dish was very tender & cooked perfectly. The rabbit leg was tender & moist on the inside & the risotto was cooked perfectly. Cooked with some zucchini & herbs so that you can get some greens! If you are feeling some Rissoto this is the dish for you! On a side note I do find that rabbit tastes like chicken 🐔🐰for those of you who haven't had rabbit before
The last main we got was the Cassoulet which is a Duck Confit & sausage stew, cooked for 10 hours 🦆! So delicious, as people probably know duck confit is a very popular dish with the French & this one was again very delicious. The duck was moist & tender like all the other dishes everything was cooked with beans in the stew. The flavours meshed together extremely well giving you an all around perfect flavour profile 🦆
For dessert we got the tarte tartin which is like a baked apple turnover drizzled with maple syrup & a scoop of vanilla ice cream 🍎🍦! Very delicious & a great way to end the meal! Luckily we parked about 15 minutes away so that helped us digest everything!
All in all, great customer service, amazingly cooked food & a very vibrant atmosphere for dinner! Great place for a date or even a small family meal. They offer seating outside aswell & there is an upper level with additional seating

The service was very good, we ordered a few appetizers : french onion soup (very hood not too salty & the cheese on top is delicious) , snail is also good, frois gros is lighter than what I am used to but still very delicious. I think the least my liking is beef tartare. The casserole is hot & very tasty especially the duck confit is tender. Overall I would recommend the bistro st malo

On recommendation from a friend searched out this little gem in Quebec City. Couldn't make unlimited mussels night but even the small size mussels were plentiful! Our server was really great the small cozy decor reminded me of the underground cave at the museum. Normally where we come from in Vancouver the French onion soups tend to be very salty but this one has superb cheese pull & not salty at all. I ordered the rabbit entree with risotto & ratatouille. Magnafique!!! Would definitely recommend!

Love the cozy atmosphere & the foods were great. My wife usually doesn't like French foods due to use of butter & cream. However, she loved the foods here & said she could eat the foods from this restaurant quite often! The lobster cake was excellent!
