During a visit to Quebec last week, my husband & I had dinner at this restaurant. It was the best meal we had during our stay. When we arrived we were initially assigned a table next to a speaker. The music was too loud for us.They immediately gave us another table where we could hear the lovely music they were playing (mostly French) & still be able to have a conversation. The steak frites I had & the seafood stew my husband had were delicious, well seasoned & nicely presented, as well as the tarte tatin we shared for dessert. I wanted to have a glass of red wine with dinner but was not familiar with any of the wines on their list. Our server asked me to describe the kind of wine I like &, based on that, she recommended one from Spain, which was perfect. The ambiance of this place was very hospitable. Our server was exceptional. We look forward to our next visit.

Fantastic French bistro food. We both got different rabbit confit dishes. Meat fell right off the bone! Lovely waitress gave us excellent wine pairing recommendations. Finished with the delicious apple tart á la mòde 🤩 The outdoor seating was great, & there was live music performance in the plaza nearby.

Excellent, authenticically Quebec. The owner brought our meals to the table himself. The food was excellent. Nice wine list. Value for the whole experience is exceptional.

So far this is our favorite meal during our visit to Quebec. We enjoyed mussels in garlic & wine for appetizers. The main course selected was butter chicken & seafood bisque. The portions were plentiful & meals were delicious.

Dined in a party of four. Sat downstairs in a cozy, inviting room. Sound system pumped out French popular music from Charles Trenet to Joe Dassin. Lovely setting for dining in Quebec.

Food was excellent. Started with mussels & escargot, both prepared well. The sous vide duck confit was outstanding. The accompany salad was fresh & nicely dressed with some brightness added by pickled vegetables. But do save room for the tarte tartin. Ooh la la. Oh, & the wines for the price were exceptional.

The atmosphere & service in the store are very good! The cyber stove on the second floor is very suitable for winter. The waiter is not only beautiful also give you very good meal suggestions. The most important thing is the quality of the food here! You only need to spend half the price of a French restaurant near the castle to enjoy three times the food. The seafood soup here highlights the flavor of the ingredients. The beef stew is tender & delicious & has the aroma of red wine. I would have been happier if the snails were garlic flavored, but the snails were handled well & not at all fishy. The service & quality here deserve a 20% tip!

Months ago, when looking for restaurants for Christmas Eve dinner, we stumbled upon Bistro St Malo online & secured a table-& we couldn't have been more delighted. The meal was lovely & delicious, but what really made our Christmas Eve special was how thoughtfully our waiter Zach tended to us-he helped with food & wine recommendations & shared ideas for what to do in & around Quebec City since it was our fist time visiting. Christmas night we went to a much "fancier" restaurant-the food was mediocre & the waiter was no Zach. Throughout the whole meal we kept discussing how much better our evening at St Malo was. It's truly a special place.

Although I knew Foie Gras torchons can have weak flavor, I still wanted to try it. Unfortunately, it was cold & flavorless. I would at least warm it for serving. Ideally, Foie gras is best seared to extract its flavor. Mussels in white wine were just OK. Sweetbreads & Ragout de Mer were fantastic. All said, I would definitely dine at your restaurant again.
