One of the baristas here believes so. I had to throw my iced mocha because it was tasted STRANGE & I couldn't ask for another drink as the barista was being combative. The irony is that at a different branch of this cafe earlier the same day, I had a standard mocha made with plain milk 😁
Really pretty cafe with great drink options, bakery items, & sandwiches! I'm sure their coffee is great, but I tried their matcha with maple syrup. As a matcha expert, this matcha wasn't up to par with authentic quality matcha. It kind of tasted like sweet milk with very little true matcha flavor. Though it was still a refreshing drink, still not the best matcha I've ever had.
This smith has the best atmosphere! I felt like I was in a movie/book drinking coffee right next to Notre Dame
We ordered a fruit tart & two lattes. The cashier asked if our order was'to go' or'for here.' We specified that we wished to dine in. It is noteworthy that'to go' orders are served in paper cups, while'for here' orders are served in ceramic cups. Upon being called to collect our coffee, I observed that our hot drinks were served in'to go' cups. I politely indicated our preference for'for here' cups. This request was met with a look of surprise, suggesting that it had not been previously communicated. Consequently, I had to recall our initial conversation with the cashier to clarify our original request. I trust you will not encounter a similar experience.
This café is a fantastic spot for coffee lovers. The coffee was rich, smooth, & clearly made with care. Everything tasted fresh, from the drinks to the food items, which made the whole experience even better. The atmosphere was cozy & inviting, perfect for relaxing or catching up with friends. The staff were friendly & provided great service throughout. Definitely a great place to stop by if you're looking for quality coffee & fresh, delicious options!
Stopped by for breakfast & had a latte, maple latte, chocolatine, & a chicken sandwich. The food & drinks were good, nothing extraordinary, but solid for a touristy area.
The café itself is tiny but cozy, & the view is what makes it special: right in front of the church, with snowy weather & people passing by. It created a perfect winter-morning vibe, & I really enjoyed that atmosphere.
⭐ 4.3/5 - Nice spot mainly for the view & ambiance.
Café La Maison Smith Notre-Dame is an absolute gem. The iced salted caramel latte was perfectly balanced-smooth, rich, & not overly sweet-while the lemon tarte was bright, fresh, & beautifully presented. The space feels warm & welcoming, with staff who are genuinely kind & attentive. A wonderful spot to pause, recharge, & enjoy thoughtfully crafted food & drinks in the heart of Old Québec.
I found their ice coffee kind of weak, maybe there was language barrier but how is there no simple syrup for cold drinks?
Food: 5/5 - I had the fruit tart with sencha tea. The tart was fresh & not too sweet. There's a good selection of teas. There's also hot & cold drinks to choose from.
Service: 5/5 - friendly server
Atmosphere: 5/5 a nice vibe to the place with additional seating outside underneath an awning just like a cafe in Paris. There are some seats looking out into the small courtyard.
A difficult place to find as there are steep stairs leading down off the main road.
It's a cute little cafe with some tables. Definitely a good spot to recharge & get something warm to drink when exploring the area in the winter. The service could be better though. The woman who took my order was unfriendly & so was the barista. They were polite to the people before me & after me, who spoke French. I didn't leave a tip.
