After days of travelling in Montreal & Quebec, we decided we had to try the famous Routine. We chose the classic small for 2 people. We couldn't be more delighted. The potatoes are the best we tasted this holiday, & the gravy & cheese were fabulous too.
I like the atmosphere of a small'chip shop' in Ireland, but it's better in basically every way.
Highly recommended. I would eat here every day if my doctor would allow it 😅
Chez Gaston has one of the best poutines I've ever had. The fries were a great size & weren't too mushy, so they held up really well under the gravy.
I also loved that they used smaller cheese curds. I actually prefer them because they're less rubbery in texture & every bite had the perfect mix of fries, cheese, & gravy. For me, the ratio was about 2 parts fries to 1 part cheese, which was just right.
The real star was the gravy. The consistency wasn't too thick or too runny, & the flavour went perfectly with the fries & cheese. Best of all, it wasn't overly salty, which is something I find a lot of poutine gravies get wrong.
Another thing I really appreciated was that there was no old-oil taste from the fries at all. Overall, a very well balanced poutine that was very delicious.
I'd definitely come back for this poutine.
Gabriel was hospitable & offered more gravy, however we didnt need it. The amount of gravy was perfect the fries are homey & the cheese curds are oof.
Thanks for the food
We had the saucisse (hot dog) poutine & the poutinium (with onion rings). The fries were fresh & they added the perfect amount of cheese & gravy. Both were awesome! The Staff was very nice & very patient. I highly reccomend giving the place a shot.
I've never had a better poutine. The seasoning & the gravy are just enough, not too salty, not too generic. Very local & authentic.
Delicious hand made'casse-croute' staples like poutine's, burgers, & hand made traditional fries. Poutines are next level, stacked with fresh local cheese curds, gravy, & your choice of toppings. The galvaude is a traditional version topped with roasted chicken breast & green peas. This one was perfect & packed with chicken & peas! Fantastic value, for Delicious scratch made food. Im having the Michigan dog next time!
The poutine was simple with good texture on the fries, & not overly salty gravy. The burger was juicy & the toppings tasted fresh.
Delicious poutine, melty cheese curds, wonderful gravy, good sized fries, crispy bacon. The Poutine Sylvie delicious - probably the best poutine I've had in Canada so far.
