Really damn good poutine would highly recommend the Gaston poutine. I had a hard time walking up the hill to chateau Laurier after eating the large poutine. The food coma is stronger than melatonin.
A small hidden gem in Quebec City. The place is very small with only 2 tables & a small bar. Two young gents behind the counter take your order, prepare the food, & hand it over to you.
I tried the hot chicken. It was not what I expected, but it was a great dish, not as spicy as I was expecting & not fried.
The burgers were great & very reasonably priced. The poutine is a must-try.
Highly recommend if you're in the area for a quick bite.
Don't speak any French & they were awesome! Sick punk music inside & a super chill vibe. This place will ruin any other poutine for you.
Les poutines y sont absolument délicieuses, & avec de belles quantités pour le prix ! L'endroit est vraiment mignon, & le staff etait adorable. Je recommande vivement 😊
Visiting from Vancouver & I got the best Poutine here!! Everything was excellent & the price was more than correct (10$ for a small), definitely worth it!!
Everyone should give it a try
this poutine was genuinely the best i have ever tried, i got the poutine with chicken & peas in it, & besides the peas being cold at first, i couldn't have asked for anything better.
the service was great too! they had an english speaker to compensate for my lack of speaking french, & they brought the food to our table.
the atmosphere had a nice vibe to it, it was small & felt like a family-owned restaurant, but great googly moogly was the rave music so gosh darn LOUD!!!
Chez Gaston has one of the best poutines I've ever had. The fries were a great size & weren't too mushy, so they held up really well under the gravy.
I also loved that they used smaller cheese curds. I actually prefer them because they're less rubbery in texture & every bite had the perfect mix of fries, cheese, & gravy. For me, the ratio was about 2 parts fries to 1 part cheese, which was just right.
The real star was the gravy. The consistency wasn't too thick or too runny, & the flavour went perfectly with the fries & cheese. Best of all, it wasn't overly salty, which is something I find a lot of poutine gravies get wrong.
Another thing I really appreciated was that there was no old-oil taste from the fries at all. Overall, a very well balanced poutine that was very delicious.
I'd definitely come back for this poutine.
