The space is very small & simple, with lots of character. Make your reservation & make sure to arrive on time, as everyone's food is served at the same time. The menu changes often & is very short, but there were lots of interesting options. We had the Cobia gravlax & the pork croquette as appetizers, both incredible. As main we both had the contre-filet, & it was definite the best meat I've had ever since I moved to Canada. As dessert we couldn't choose between the chocolate brownie & the carrot cake - so we ordered both! Servings are a good size - you can have a three course meal or skip one course & still be full. Staff is super friendly & professional. Overall a great experience & will definitely be back when we're back in town!
The dining experience at L'Affaire est Ketchup was truly exceptional. From the moment we were seated, it was clear that the evening would be memorable. With a selection of 5 appetizers & 5 entrées, choosing was a delightful challenge. The Fois Gras & Salmon were outstanding, & the Steak & Duck elevated the meal to new heights. I highly recommend this restaurant & suggest sitting at the bar for an up-close view of the kitchen's artistry.
My husband & I were visiting from NY & wanted to check out this restaurant on Bourdain's recommendation. From the outside, the restaurant is unassuming. The dining area is quaint but comfortable, & the staff took time to share the menu & made each table familiar with the various dishes. I have a sensitivity to onion & garlic, & the kitchen shared dishes that they could adapt to this need. I was so grateful for this! High attention & care to detail throughout the experience. The food was exceptional. From appetizers to mains & desserts, we were very pleased. Everything was excellent. If you have a moment to peek into the kitchen, do so! It is incredible the magic this restaurant is creating with so few chefs & such a modest kitchen. Highly impressive & we will absolutely return.
This might be one of the best dinners I had this year. I loved the style of menu- ever changing. Was super excited to see what they were going to have when I went. They explain each dish & then you have a but to think it over. We ordered the Octopus for our appetizer & I believe Pork (with a Morrel Sauce), as well as this Halibut with a Lobster Bisque. All I have to say is wow. Michelin quality food for sure. Such lovely execution & flavours.
Super cozy & homely vibe! Really love the atmosphere of this little restaurant which made everyone feel like home, from the greeting to the menu sharing. Really had a great time here with friend over drunk. The menu changes based on the season. My friend & I really enjoyed the wine selection, lobster & asparagus appetizer, Fried fish, & Beef. The restaurant has a small kitchen but the food really warmed my heart on thr rainy day here. Will definitely come back
We had the octopus as an appetizer followed by the entres: halibut, steak, & lamb shank. All were solid.
Very cozy & laid back restaurant. They serve customers in batches & all diners progress at the same pace. The menu is communicated to everyone once in French & once in English, although the English version is moderately briefer. This place is suitable for people who want to hang out, drink wine, & eat great food. The meal progresses slowly, first half hour was mostly drinking, then an hour for appetizers, & finally one more hour for entrées. (I didn't get dessert) The menu changes so not everyone would experience this, but when I went the restaurant got smoky to the point where the entire room seemed foggy & it became a bit difficult to breathe. Likely too many people ordered food that involved brown butter at once. The food was excellent, & highly recommend ordering the sweetbread (which seems to be a staple on the menu).
Excellent food & service. We had a sweet bread to share for appetizer. Then I had the duck & husband had the scallop & blood pudding. My friend got tuna & octopus. We all rounded things up with a cheesecake for dessert. Everything was so good & fresh. They change the menu frequently based on whatever fresh ingredients are available. The experience was fun too - everyone got seated, then the waiter went over the entire menu & we ordered at the same time. Will definitely be back. The only thing to note is ventilation was not the best so you had a ton of smoke inside while the kitchen was cooking.
