Review Summary

L'Affaire Est Ketchup offers a unique, intimate dining experience that feels like being invited into a friend's home kitchen. Guests appreciate the daily changing, seasonal menu that is presented verbally by the staff, fostering a communal and theatrical atmosphere. While many reviewers rave about the exceptional quality of dishes like the sweetbreads, duck, and various seafood options, noting that the food is inventive and flavorful, others have expressed concerns regarding inconsistent cooking temperatures, protein textures, and the overall state of the facilities, such as the small bathrooms and dated interior. Despite some polarized opinions on value and service fluidity, the majority of visitors highlight the welcoming staff, the engaging open kitchen concept, and the overall sense of culinary passion as key reasons to recommend this establishment for a memorable meal.

Would give 6 stars if possible. Incredible food, cozy & relaxed unpretentious atmosphere combined with great & friendly service. Our waiter Jordan did a fantastic job in French & English breaking down the menu for the night, making recommendations, & was attentive, friendly, & charismatic throughout. Food was incredible & not overpriced, our table of 3 split 2 bottles of wine, 3 appetizers, 3 entrees, & 2 desserts for a very reasonable price. Would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting looking for the best French food I've ever had. The sweetbreads & veal tataki are must get appetizers, & the duck, steak, & pork roulade were incredible as well.

English friendly. Waiter will introduce the dishes in both English & French. The sweet bread, although doesn't look appealing, is a must try appetizer.

Clinched a last minute 6pm reservation here & it was absolutely wonderful. Their vibe is super chill, friendly, yet energetic/efficient. Got the: veal sweetbread (ris de veau), fish dumplings, & the duck, paired with a very crushable white wine from Spain.

Some additional info:
- There are two dinner services: 6pm & 8:30pm. Try to arrive on time as they will explain the menu in detail to everyone, take everyone's order, then the courses come out in sync across tables.
- The chalkboard menu is split into two sections: appetizers & mains (e.g., ris de veau is an appetizer, duck is a main). An appetizer & main per person works pretty well.

What an amazing experience! We sat at the bar & got to watch all the cooking & chopping. We had deer tartare & octopus for appetizers & scallops & chef's entree for main courses. We were too stuffed for dessert but opted for a sazerac instead. Highly recommend, totally worth the $!
