Highly recommend this unique dining experience! The staff were friendly & very well educated, I really appreciated their knowledge of the wine list, they recommended the perfect pairing for my meal. The meal itself was amazing, high quality ingredients & perfectly executed (I had the duck). This was one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had.
Wonderful quirky restaurant! We had a great meal! The menu is small & extremely inventive! Everything was delicious & our waiter did a wonderful job of explaining the menu & answered questions we had in regards to our dishes after they were served. Good wine selection!
Nothing better than being able to cross a restaurant off your bucket list & have it exceed your expectations. I'm still thinking about that scallop ceviche. Solid wine list. Definitely recommend & I can't wait to be back!
This is tough to write & I have similar feelings to other low reviews. Throughout the dinner, I had feelings of sadness & anxiety due to the poor service.
The whole entry process is confusing & odd. We were the second party to go through the door that night. When the first party entered, it was clear there were 4 other parties outside; however, the door was slammed in my face. I had to open the door & ask, Can I come in? The host said yeah, asked me two fast questions I couldn't understand, then ran to answer the phone while I stood there confused.
I was first to be outside to enter, but someone else got the window seat. It felt like fighting for a good seat.
It took 25 minutes to be waited on & receive wine. After our wine glasses were empty, it took another 20 minutes to be asked if we wanted more drinks. At a good service restaurant, they notice when I have a quarter of a drink left or so & ask before it's empty if I want more.
When the food arrived, there was no explanation or reminder of what's on the plate. There's a lot of detail & effort into the food (!!) so I felt they could do a better job of explaining.
They desperately need better ventilation. My clothes, hair, & coat (still) smell like smoke & beef.
The food was good, but wholly overshadowed by the service.
Overall, it was a letdown. Oh, & stepping out the door of the restaurant I rolled my ankle, so that's a rough start to a holiday, in addition to the experience
From the moment we stepped in, L'Affaire est ketchup felt like a hidden gem in. The staff's personal touch & attentive service made us feel truly special. Their recommendations on wine & food were spot-on, enhancing our dining experience. What stood out was their kindness in sharing recommendations for other restaurants nearby, adding an extra touch of hospitality. The delicious food served in an amazing atmosphere truly made our visit unforgettable. L'Affaire est ketchup is a must-visit spot for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience
It's been nearly a week since my wife & I had the pleasure of dining here for our wedding anniversary. We were on vacation from Chicago with our family & had the opportunity to sneak out for dinner one night (thanks for watching the kids, fam!) What a dream the entire night was. Even before walking in, I got that feeling. The feeling this was going to be a special & memorable experience. We were warmly greeted by one of the chefs & seated at the bar (an absolute must). We drank red wine, & followed the chefs tasting for the night. Nothing too fancy, but paired perfectly with our meal. Speaking of food, everything was excellent. But this place is about more than food; conversation with the chefs, impromptu apéritifs on the house, the open homestyle kitchen, & that feeling that you're in an episode of Parts Unknown. The spirit of Bourdain was with us! A "Top 5" lifetime dining experience for me, one that I will never forget. & I will be back!
Arrived at 8:30 pm & they had our table for eight ready. Two & 1/2 hours, 3 courses of food & 2 nice bottles of wine later I paid a bill including good tip of $826.00. IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY. Best experience on 4 day Quebec Trip. Mclark VA
Warm & friendly service with an excellent rotating menu of traditional Quebecois dishes. Great wine options too. Atmosphere is energetic & fun, so if you're looking for a quiet meal, it might not be for you.
Probably my favourite restaurant in Canada. I try to eat here every time I'm in town. The food is excellent, the prices are reasonable, the staff is awesome & the wine & beer & interesting. There's really no other restaurant like it.
