About

Le Cochon Dingue functions as a quintessential Quebecois institution, celebrated for its robust menu featuring signature slow-cooked pork ribs and classic French-inspired bistro fare. The kitchen maintains a strong focus on high-quality ingredients, notably seen in its famous maple-glazed ribs and traditional poutine variations that satisfy heartier cravings. Diners encounter a bustling, rustic interior characterized by wooden accents and a lively, social atmosphere that defines the brand identity. The menu selection encompasses a range of traditional dishes including onion soup, steak frites, and an extensive assortment of house-made desserts. This establishment delivers consistent culinary results across its multiple locations, grounding its reputation in authentic flavors rather than modern culinary experimentation. Every plate emphasizes generous portions and traditional techniques, cementing its status as a reliable destination for those seeking substantial, comfort-oriented meals within a relaxed and unpretentious environment.

Review Summary

Le Cochon Dingue is widely praised by visitors for its delicious food, particularly the pork dishes, ribs, and breakfast options like eggs benedict and crepes. Many diners appreciate the efficient, friendly service and the lively, cozy atmosphere that makes it a popular stop in Quebec City. While the vast majority of experiences are positive and highlight the restaurant as a staple for both tourists and locals, a small number of guests have encountered issues with inconsistent food temperatures, occasional service lapses during busy periods, or specific experiences with staff interactions. Overall, the establishment remains a highly recommended destination for its generous portions, diverse menu, and ability to accommodate groups, providing a consistent and memorable dining experience for those exploring the area.

Dîner découverte au hasard de la balade. Que du bon

Ambiance d'une grande chaîne ou de cafétéria. Lumière non tamisée & la nourriture est « correcte » sans plus. Le prix du vin est élevé.

Definitely not the experience you'd expect from the Cochon Dingue in other locations (e.g. Lebourgneuf). Rushed service until it was time to get the check, then we had to wait & ask several times). Food was ok, but not the excellent breakfast I had in memory.

Great experience at Cochon dingue. We all were satisfied with our dish. Everything was tasty & good looking. The menu has a couple of interesting & local items. Service was fast & the staff was very friendly. The dining room is cosy. Prices seemed fair for the quality. I would happily visiti again!

We visied twice for lunch & breakfast. it was good BBQ. However it wasn't as much as what i expected. The pork wasn't that good quality. but sauce was great. You should try it. it depends of what you order. The staff are friendly & funny. All service are great

Du porc non bien cuit pourtant le plat est retourné & ils ont dit que ça allait être réglé. Mais le nouveau plat est pareil. La serveuse ne sait même pas si c'est normal ou pas. Vraiment déçu.

Stopped in to have a light lunch on a Saturday late afternoon. Long wait to order - however, very pleasant serving staff. Ordered onion soup & had to send it back to the kitchen because it wasn't hot. The same soup was returned, & the temperature was the way it should be served "hot." It was lukewarm at best. Unfortunately, mediocre tasting soup. Looking around at the plates served, this place seems to be mostly breakfast/brunch - plates of food do not look impressive. I'm not sure I would return.

We visited this restaurant on our recent trip to Quebec City. It was the first evening of our trip, & we were really looking forward to our first meal in Quebec. However, it turned out to be a very rude welcome to a very beautiful city. We ordered the Seafood Linguine & Cod Fish & Chips. The food was really delicious, but the portion sizes, especially for the fish & chips, were very low, considering the price. It turned out to be an overpriced meal that wasn't filling enough. The real shocker came at the end. The waiter who took our order brought us our bill, & he was just peering down at what I was entering as a tip. When he saw that I switched to a 10% tip, instead of the default setting of 15%, he just rudely turned away with the credit card machine as soon as the payment was done. It was a very rude gesture intentionally made to show that he wasn't happy with the tip. I wouldn't have bothered to switch the tip percentage to 10% had I been that happy with the service. I don't remember the name of the waiter, but it was the night of 31 August 2024.
