A tribute to our ancestors, a return to our roots and a reflection off our culinary history from the First Nations to today. A place to meet and share around a table, to discover or rediscover our land, our forest, our river.
A wonderful culinary story, inspired by historical elements that are transformed by the imagination and destined to be transferred from generation to generation. Our cuisine will stimulate all your senses with new discoveries. LÉGENDE pays great attention to details, which are an integral part of its content, and while these characteristics do not focus primarily on historical facts, they vehicle a wonderful aspect attached to reality.
A menu inspired by our culinary heritage and the footprint that time has left in our cuisine.
Let us surprise you. Take part in the experience to understand and enjoy.
Légende offers an immersive fine dining experience centered on innovative boreal cuisine, where locally sourced ingredients are transformed into creative and beautifully presented tasting menus. Guests frequently praise the professional, attentive, and passionate service, noting that the staff often goes above and beyond to make celebrations feel special. The atmosphere is consistently described as cozy, elegant, and welcoming, making it a standout destination in Quebec City for those seeking a memorable culinary journey. While the majority of visitors leave feeling delighted by the complex flavors and thoughtfully curated wine and non-alcoholic pairings, a few have noted that the portion sizes or pacing can sometimes feel unconventional for a long-form tasting experience.
LEGENDE - You win some, you lose some! Signing off a wonderful vacation with a disappointing Michelin 1* experience! Sigh!
Packed with some wonderful culinary experiences, spirit lifting vistas, sights & scenery & most of all, abundance of cherished loving, family bonding. My abbreviated food crawl during the past week has been most memorable & precious. Sadly, our last meal at the Michelin 1* Legende in Quebec City added an unexpected sour note to our otherwise splendid food crawl.
When dining out in upscale restaurants, one of the most despised things I dislike encountering is one that involves being charged a hefty price for the meal but still feeling hungry whilst paying the bill!
Do not get me wrong, the food at Legende was actually quite creative, unique, visually appealing, tasty & enjoyable. Although in some areas, the chefs were a bit heavy handed with the salt ( the tomato dish ). Sadly, a satisfactory end result was not fulfilled largely due to the miscalculation of the chef's overall menu creation & planning. IMHO, the prime reason & failure that causes the meal's demise of not achieving an acceptable quality/quantity/value ratio was not the use of uncommon & exotic ingredients but rather, the labour intensive elements & in some cases, the presence of overly redundant & irrelevant components which added to the complexity, required down sizing & hence an elevated cost component to the meal. Case in point, our impressive 8 course / $140 tasting menu at Montreal's Buillon Bilk was near flawless, sumptuous & a filling affair. Contrary, our 6 course / $ 135 offering at Legende was stingy & lacking in substance. Appetizer portions were midget one bite hors d'oeuvres size. However, the most absurd was the meat entree course featuring 4 thin slices of stingy, roughly 3oz in total, pieces of meat, gimmickily paired with a bowl of three sauces…..a couple of which are mediocre tasting & totally irrelevant! This is tantamount to trying to get full by eating a Shawarama but offered without the pita bread & vegetable/pickle condiments ... .only the bare-bone meat pieces garnished with Tahini & some Hummus were served!!
Our tasting menu offered the following courses:
6 East Coast Oysters topped with local Boreal condiments (optional $18 addition)
Hors d'oeuvres:
Wild rose & marigold potato
Crispy tuille, maitake mascarpone cream & Clos de Roches cheese
House made Tofu butter, fermented seaweed, smoked maplewood emulsion
Service & ambiance was great, as was the quality & creativity of the food. The only thing that docks it 1-star from an overall 5-star rating is the value.
We've been to many, many 1 Michelin star restaurants over the years, & had degustation menus at most of them, but the amount of food offered in your tasting was definitely too small for the price. Since the making of the sauces (which were all outstanding) & the assembly of the dishes are a significant portion of the cost, you should increase the size of a few of those dishes to provide better value.
In addition, while my wife appreciated you offering a non-alcoholic tasting to go with the meal, few of those drinks tasted great or matched with the food. So she felt you had good intentions, & clearly work went into making them, but ultimately they have to taste good & they have to match the food, & they missed the mark.
But every other aspect of the dinner was stellar, so overall very good; just missing the mark of fantastic.
Tonight was a repeat visit to Legende & it did not disappoint. The food was amazing (6 course tasting menu with paired wine) & the service was fantastic! The whole experience is a treat for the senses- sitting at the bar provides a great opportunity to watch the whole place in motion - a well oiled machine with each staff member passionately working in total sync. It is well worth a visit!

Service was excellent & the tasting menu was a great experience, with a few stand-out dishes like the tartlet in the amuse-bouche, the halibut, & the butter-fried bread. But the real life-changer was the genius mixologist, Jean-Francois. We opted for the non-alcoholic pairing & it was incredible. We will never forget the creativity & effort that went to his perfectly paired drinks (sousviding shiraz for 8 hours to remove the alcohol, using ingredients I never would have thought of like cat nip, verjus & sweet clover).
The only negative was the nordic shrimp tortellini dish we ordered a-la-carte. While it sounded innovative on paper, we found it to be poorly executed. The tortellini filling was hard & the mealworm dashi didn't go with the dish.
Relaxed but vibrant atmosphere. Tasting menu & wine pairings were amazing - the mussels, leeks, venison were especially outstanding & loved the creativity of the menu. Entire staff was knowledgeable & made the experience magic for a birthday celebration. Perfect way to spend a night in Quebec City.
This wasn't a meal it was an experience. We had the tasting menu & every course was delightful in a new way. Well worth it & highly recommend! The service was phenomenal & the food was truly art. They effortlessly accommodated my partner's food sensitivities. The atmosphere, food & aromas tell a beautifully Canadian story of the Boreal forest!
Our anniversary dinner at Légende. We chose cocktails which were fun; & the very fun degustation menu (6 course tasting menu). Chloe, the Assistant Maitre, managed our table, & couldn't have been more perfect to be with. What a pleasure it was!
Legende was everything I expected & more. The staff is friendly & answered all my questions. Charlotte went out of her way for my wife & me. It was my wife's birthday & they made us feel like we were family. The atmosphere is relaxing & fun. Now onto the food. We had the tasting menu with wine pairing. This was a match made in heaven. The 6 course meal was the best & most creative food I had ever & will ever have. Each course was perfection & kept us wanting more. The wine pairing was out of this world & was the perfect fit. I could have started the meal over again & would have been just as happy. The chef is a pure genius & they & the kitchen deserve all the accolades. This will be a meal that my wife & I talk about for the rest of our lives. Thank you Legende!!
4 diamonds 💎 star restaurant. I enjoy fine Dinning, & this was a beautiful 6 course tasting menu with pairing mocktails. So happy my husband treated me as I am able to eat more during my second trimester.
We had an amazing experience, & would highly recommend! You can tell that so much thought went into each dish. We got the mocktail pairing with the tasting menu & loved it! Our favourite dishes were the halibut, shallot tartlet & dessert!
