We've eaten at many Michelin restaurants around the world, & this really is excellent flavors at an amazing value! Some of the most unique & intense flavors in a fun & lovely environment where you can easily interact with your your chef/server at the counter. We did the wine pairing & commend Claudine on her amazing ability to choose the perfect wine for each dish! Absolutely loved this restaurant & would fly back to Quebec just to eat her again!!
I just ate at Lueur for New Year's Day dinner & felt compelled to leave a detailed review because I was genuinely blown away.
From the moment we sat down, the service was excellent: warm, polished, & perfectly timed. It immediately set the tone for an evening that felt thoughtful & seamless.
The appetizers were a standout. Each opening dish was bold yet beautifully balanced. The beef tartare was rich & deeply savory without being overwhelming, while the hamachi crudo was bright, fresh, & layered with flavor. Even the Caesar salad impressed-it was elevated far beyond expectations, packed with umami, crisp bacon, & perfectly judged seasoning.
The mains were just as superb. The scallops were cooked flawlessly & paired with luxurious elements that enhanced the dish without stealing focus. The braised beef cheek was incredibly tender, rich, & comforting-executed at a very high level.
We also added the extras, & they were absolutely worth it. The sourdough with foie gras butter & fresh truffle was indulgent & addictive, & the seared foie gras was silky, rich, & perfectly balanced.
Dessert was lovely, but what truly defined the meal were the strength & execution of the appetizers & mains.
Incredible food, superb service, & a refined yet welcoming atmosphere-easily one of the standout dining experiences in Québec City.
Lueur truly delivers a memorable dining experience. The cozy bar-style seating might not be the most comfortable, but it creates an intimate atmosphere between guests & the chefs. The food is excellent: the mix of flavors & the freshness of the ingredients fully justify the price.
The menu is quite limited, but the options are well chosen & will certainly satisfy different tastes. Dishes are served in a tapas format, perfect for sharing. However, this is not the ideal spot for large groups: seating is at the counter, which makes group conversations unpractical.
The biggest downside, in my opinion, is that the small space & poorly isolated kitchen leave you smelling like the food when you leave. So, if you have plans afterward, you might want to think twice before choosing Lueur.
Despite that, we had a great time, & will surely keep the restaurant in our list for date nights!
Super fun atmosphere, attentive chefs, fun drinks. Small portions - but the flavors & quality are divine! Wonderful experience!
Great little restaurant, with amazing food & service. Loved all of the dishes, with delicate flavors & the freshest of ingredients. Chefs are superb.
