The Maison Livernois has a terrace of about fifty places, in addition to some 90 places inside. On the menu are pub classics, such as burgers, but also eight dishes inspired by the flavors of the world. The name La Maison Livernois is inspired by a family that has already been very involved in Quebec City. She founded the first photography studio in 1854 in the building that now houses the St. Patrick's Pub. Each gin and vodka brewed by Top Resto Group will bear the name of one of the members of this family. The first being the Jules-Ernest gin. Three recipes are already developed. In addition to food, La Maison Livernois is a tasting place. There are many kinds of Quebec gins and a laboratory to educate people.
Maison Livernois offers a highly regarded dining experience in the heart of Old Quebec, frequently praised for its inviting atmosphere, beautiful historic decor, and comfortable seating. Many guests highlight the exceptional quality of the food, particularly the steak frites, poutine, duck confit, and the creative selection of house-made gins. The service is often described as professional, attentive, and friendly, with many visitors noting that the staff goes above and beyond to provide tailored recommendations and accommodate special requests. While the experience is generally positive, some guests have noted occasional inconsistencies in service speed or portion sizes, but overall, it remains a popular destination for those seeking a memorable meal in a charming setting.
While the service was very nice & the atmosphere quite warm & inviting, the food was sub par. We had fried ship appetizer-the sauce lacked much spice. The salmon was unsalted & over cooked, the sauce lacked flavor. The potatoes which accompanied the dish were undercooked & again no flavor. Others had fish & chips-hard to get wrong but had no flavor & too much batter. The steak was tough & the French fried were over cooked nearly burnt! The price was like a more upscale dining restaurant. Therefore our expectations were that food would be tasty but sad to say no. Hope they will make a few changes as again the service & the atmosphere are wonderful.
We stopped in for a nightcap on our way back to our hotel. We had the pleasure of being served by Oliver, our bartender. Oliver was gracious, very knowledgeable & impressive in his knowledge of the craft. My husband ordered a Pimm's Cup & then asked Oliver to be creative & make him an Old Fashioned with gin instead of bourbon. He knocked it out of the park. We realize that it was close to closing time so the bar was quiet which gave Oliver the chance to be super attentive. Had it been a busier part of the day we may not have been able to enjoy the pleasure of his company as I'm sure he has a huge following. Oliver is a true craftsman who takes great pride in his work. We're so happy to have stopped in & can't wait to go back!
I gotta start off with the duck confit poutine. It's too die for, the duck is tender & delicate. Fresh cheese curds & the gravy oh my you could dunk crayons in it & be like wow that are tasty. If you like gin your gonna adore this place. They have like easily a hundred choices.
Temps d'attente super long !
