Great coffee & rich desserts like the chocolate banana puffs, chocolate raspberry tart, & the calamansi tarte, which I haven't seen outside of Asia! It's so fun to watch the employees bake in the kitchen & the atmosphere is so pleasant.
We came in during a busy time around 2 p.m. & not much baked goods were in stock at that time, but the service & the quality is amazing!! We ordered a cinnamon bun, a cardamom bun, & a mocha, but only after the pay the girl cashier realized they're out of chocolate for mocha. She was very apologetic & sweet & made sure we were happy with what we got. So, she accommodated for us & got us 2 coffees. The buns were fresh, soft, flavourful - everything you want! Their allonge is the perfect amount of coffee with the best espresso shot. Highly recommend!
Also, the jazz music & the furniture create such a nice cozy vibe. Very beautiful!
I had coffee & two cakes at this establishment. One cake was with chocolate mousse & berry filling. I really liked it, the taste is rich & balanced, not oversweetened, you can feel that all the products are fresh. The second cake was most likely pecan caramel. But I didn't like it because I got the impression that the caramel was overcooked because it tasted very bitter. I liked the coffee. It's also not very convenient that the cakes are not labeled, neither the names nor what flavor they have. I took what I liked visually. The service is good, the staff is friendly & attentive.
Wow!!! What a great place to visit!!! Patisserie la Chouquette is a truly rare find in Quebec City. Its simple & minimalist decor perfectly highlights the most important aspect: the quality & sophistication of its creations. I tasted three different products, not too sweet, fresh ingredients & complex flavors. It's clear that the fresh fruits, high-quality chocolates, & the expertise of the team cannot be compared to the industrial products of their competitors. If you prefer fast paced bakeries, & you eat whatever just to rush somewhere, this is not the place for you.
What's most surprising are the prices. For such high quality, you would expect to pay much more than at competing bakeries, but that's not the case here. The coffees & lemonades are perfect to these delicious treats. I had a lavender lemonade that was crazy good. The open kitchen is also a show in itself. Watching the chefs at work ensures transparency & a great deal of confidence in their craft. I need to go back there for sure.
By the way, I have no pictures to share! I ate my stuff & didn't have have to waste with my cellphone. Maybe next time...
La Chouquette is a pleasant surprise in a world of bakeries that are often predictable & lack character.
Wow!!! Patisserie la Chouquette is a truly rare find in Quebec City. Its simple & minimalist decor perfectly highlights the most important aspect: the quality & sophistication of its creations. Amazing & complex flavors, surely crafted with premium ingredients. It's clear that the fresh fruits, rare high-quality chocolates, & the expertise of the team cannot be compared to the industrial products of their competitors. This is not a franchise where you just eat whatever & get out fast...if you like this, you are on the wrong place for sure!
The prices are amazingly low. For such high quality, you would expect to pay much more, but that's not the case here. The coffees & lemonades are the perfect as well. I had a lemonade with lavender that surprised me. The open kitchen is also a show in itself. Watching the chefs at work ensures total transparency & demonstrates a great deal of confidence in their craft.
Sorry but I don't have photos. I ate before I could grab my phone! I had no time to waste!!!

Pâtisserie Chouquette is an absolute gem. We tried a cream puff & a pain au chocolat, & both were outstanding-but the croissant dough was next-level. Flaky, buttery, perfectly layered-I'll be craving & dreaming about that croissant for years to come. You can see the bakers at work behind the counter while you wait in line, & the whole shop smells like rich, quality melted chocolate. They use local, high-quality butter in all their desserts, & you can truly taste the difference. It's the kind of place that turns a quick stop into a core memory. My only regret is that it's 3,000 km from my home-if I lived nearby, I'd be a regular. Don't miss this spot if you're in Quebec City. It's worth going out of your way for.
