About

Pâtisserie Chouquette specializes in the meticulous production of artisanal cream puffs and traditional French pastry staples. Each individual chou pastry shell is baked to a precise golden consistency before being filled with velvet-textured crème pâtissière. The rotating selection features classic flavor profiles alongside seasonally inspired infusions that emphasize high-quality dairy and premium vanilla beans. These baked goods showcase a disciplined approach to moisture control and textural balance within every bite. Patrons encounter a display case organized by technical craftsmanship rather than mere aesthetic arrangement. The establishment operates as a focused boutique dedicated to the rigorous standards of classical pâtisserie. Every component is assembled with technical precision to ensure consistency across the entire range of sweets and specialty baked offerings available for purchase.

Pâtisserie Chouquette is widely celebrated as an exceptional bakery in Quebec City, known for its authentic, high-quality French pastries and warm, cozy atmosphere. Visitors frequently praise the diverse selection of treats, particularly the flaky croissants, creative choux pastries, and the standout mille feuille, all noted for their masterful balance of flavors that avoids being overly sweet. The open kitchen concept allows guests to watch the skilled team at work, enhancing the appreciation for their artisanal craftsmanship and fresh ingredients. While the café can become busy, leading to occasional wait times or limited seating, the friendly service and consistently delicious offerings, including well-crafted coffee and homemade hot chocolate, make it a must-visit destination for locals and travelers alike.

Tried croissants at several places in Québec City during a trip & these were by far the best.

Happy to see a good pastries in Quebec City! The desserts look beautiful. Croissants are buttery & crispy. Mile feuille, although excellent, is not a mile feuille & I feel overpriced. I try to stop by when I am in town.
Desserts are slightly more sweet than I would have liked, but this is more of a personal preference.

Giving less stars because the place is disorganized, service is slow, tables are dirty, & we kept getting cut in the line by people trying to use the small garbage can inconveniently placed at the back of the store.

Don't understand the hype. The croissant is not crispy at allllll. Not enough lamination. When you bite in a good croissant, the flakes should fall everywhere. Nothing fell off lol
Tried two other desserts & it was very mediocre. Perhaps my expectation was too high given the 4.9 review. However, the croissant price was very fair at $2.90 CAD. A good croissant in Toronto is at least $5+

Pâtisserie Chouquette is an absolute gem. We tried a cream puff & a pain au chocolat, & both were outstanding-but the croissant dough was next-level. Flaky, buttery, perfectly layered-I'll be craving & dreaming about that croissant for years to come. You can see the bakers at work behind the counter while you wait in line, & the whole shop smells like rich, quality melted chocolate. They use local, high-quality butter in all their desserts, & you can truly taste the difference. It's the kind of place that turns a quick stop into a core memory. My only regret is that it's 3,000 km from my home-if I lived nearby, I'd be a regular. Don't miss this spot if you're in Quebec City. It's worth going out of your way for.

Everything was delicious!

I went for the basics & got a pain au chocolat, croissant & a brioche à la cannelle & they were all delicious!

The pain au chocolat is seriously one of the best ones I've tried. The chocolate was still soft & warm, dissolving in every bite!

I also got a matcha latte & was perfect, the flavor was not diluted nor too sweet.

It is however a small place so it can be hard to find somewhere to sit. Fortunately I waited a couple minutes & got a table.

The line to order might be long but it's really worth staying!!

AMAZING! We stopped by three times on our trip to QC.

Croissants, almond croissant & pain at chocolat were all amazing. Simple, buttery, very flaky & so, so good.

Cheesecake (I beleive it was a basque cheesecake) was incredible. Again, so simple, but such a rich & delicious flavour.

Chouquettes were fun - different flavours like sour berry, maple pecan, hazelnut, & fruit. They were well made - about $2.75 each. I think there is a discount if you buy more than 4.

We also got a hazelnut cake. Imagine a Ferraro Roche but 5x the size.

Service was great & could speak English.

Closed on Mondays. Things sell out fast! Make sure you buy when you can :)
