The staff are super friendly. We arrived earlier than our reservation & they were able to fit us in earlier as well. The french macaron was a little dry & some items weren't to my tastes, but overall the service & food assortment was great. My favourite item was the scone & the raspberry blackcurrant spread for it. I was actually quite full & couldn't finish all of the sweets. Our table was right next to the window & had a beautiful view of the city line across the river. I would definitely recommend trying it out at least once.
Overall, I'm glad that we did this, but I wouldn't do it again. The tea was beautiful. The room & lighting & piano music & the presentation of the food were all pitch perfect. Also, the staff were wonderful.
The food, itself, ranged from okay to good with two exceptions. There was a biscuit/scone that was amazing with clotted cream, orange marmalade & raspberry jam. It was to die for. & the then there was a profiterole with a chocolate cream & caramel. It was truly exceptional. Everything else was very average.
In summary, fun experience & ambience. Average food.
We had Afternoon Tea here, it was great. It's a pricy endeavour but the experience was fun. The tea items are small, but everyone left full. They were all excellent, the highlights were the scones & the duck confit sliders.
Had afternoon tea. My 9 year old niece said 5 stars. She really loved the scones with Devon Cream. Delicious food. Surprised by the quality of the salmon in the sandwiches. Loved the blueberry dessert the best.
My boyfriend & I went to tea time which is absolutely worth the money. You get free 3 hr valet service with a reservation & tea time only takes about an hour & a half, so that's free parking in Old Quebec. Everything we ate was fantastic with the surprising exception of the macarons, which were overbaked & crumbled immediately in the mouth. The tea service was incredible; I didn't know that tea could be that much better. The pear & maple panna cotta was a dream & the scones, which are served with mouthwatering clotted cream, jam, & marmalade, are like biting into a confusing pillow (in a good way). The savory sandwiches were great, & we especially loved the smoked salmon. There was also a wonderfully talented pianist who played during the service.
Fabulous place, but the afternoon tea itself was a letdown. The sandwiches & the cakes are very small. The Scones are alright, but the accompanying jam & the cream were very runny, unlike the British ones. The staff are attentive & friendly, but they don't really serve you much. The interior is nice & the atmosphere was great. They need to learn a lot from the traditional English afternoon tea venues in England.
Enjoyed the high tea which included a starter of a tiny panna cotta, two scones, one savoury, one regular with jam & cream, finger sandwiches of cucumber & another of smoked salmon, some prawns in a small pastry shell, duck terrine on a small brioche bun, pesto cream cheese on a small round of rye & three very small sweet pastries. It came on a stand, but not a proper high tea stand. It was OK. The high tea at the Fairmont Lake Louise was much prettier & had better food. Service was fabulous & great atmosphere which included a pianist, but were seated quite close to other patrons.
