Staff was so friendly & a great selection of food & drinks! Really cool/different inside. Felt like we were in a cozy little cave. Would definitely visit again!
Great little quaint & cozy spot. Service was great & food is just appetizer level. Not a dinner place. UT it's ok. WIngs & nachos mainly. Very unique spot in what looks like an old vault. It is definatley a great drink spot where you can just chill. Did I say service was great?
We stopped by just for a drink after dinner & really appreciated the unique atmosphere. The bar has a very distinctive vaulted cellar style, which gives it a cozy & original character.
It's definitely worth a visit for the ambiance & location alone.
Overall, a great spot for a relaxed drink in a unique setting.
Pub L'Oncle Antoine is one of those rare travel finds that completely charms you with its authenticity & character.
Tucked away on a quieter street in a tourist-heavy area, this pub is set in the cellar of a 270+ year-old building. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, & full of history, exactly the kind of place you hope to stumble upon in Québec City!!!!
It's popular with both locals & visitors, which is always a good sign. The standout? The onion soup. It absolutely lives up to the hype...rich, comforting, & honestly unforgettable...life changing, really. Don't miss it.
Service was friendly & welcoming, adding to the overall experience. A truly unique spot that captures the spirit of the city. Highly recommended.
We wanted an authentic pub experience & not'pretend Irish/British' for tourists. Pub L'Oncle Antoine looked perfect. We were not disappointed in terms of ambience. The history of this charming cellar pub, with low, rounded ceilings, & brickwork is cozy & authentic. Service was friendly & fast, & the draught pints were cold & priced right. If you're a pub, the first two priorities are pints, & pints. They nailed it. Food is the 3rd priority & at L'Oncle, was a dismal disappointment. Start with French Onion Soup: French chefs (& home cooks) everywhere weep tears of sadness at L'Oncle's mozzarella massacre of this iconic dish, claimed by their menu to be'authentic.' It is definitely not. The cheese layer is a solid 1.5 inches thick...more gluey that gooey (as if'gooey' is good either - which it isn't!) We scraped a half pound blob of cheese off the top & there was another half pound left. Yuk. The open-faced ham & cheese sandwich was another disaster. The culprit (what a surprise!) was the mountain of mozzarella cheese plastered all over it via the cook's brick-layer trowel at least 3/4 inch thick. If you think to bring your own trowel, you can maybe dig through the layer of cheese to find a sandwich somewhere. Don't get me wrong: I love cheese. The chef needs to ditch the cheap mozzarella on the soup & use Gruyere/Emmenthal instead - & like 50% less. Charge more if they have to. It'd be worth it. Even if I'm half-Italian, which I am, I'm not gonna adulterate onion soup with mozzarella. Ham croquettes love cheese. How about cheddar? Swiss? Raclette? Anything but mozzarella! The wings were OK. Cooked nicely. Under-seasoned & no dipping sauces.
Fantastic place to have a drink & appetizer. Great vibe, drinks & atmosphere. Our server was great to us. Very welcoming, great service & super friendly. Highly recommended if you're looking for a cozy place to sit & have a quick bite & drink.
The service is terrible. The other reviewers who have commented on this are right. We waited more than 20 minutes without having been as much as acknowledged by any staff, even though the place wasn't particularly busy at the time. Finally, after it was clear that we would continue to be ignored indefinitely, we left. The cozy atmosphere doesn't compensate for the lack of attention, or even respect, for that matter. Do yourself a favor & look elsewhere.
A very cozy & warm atmosphere. We really enjoyed the vibe, & everything was great. Definitely a nice place to relax & have a good time.
Wonderful atmosphere & very cozy. The staff are very friendly & the onion soup is one of the best rated ones in the city. Must try!
Such a fun place in the evening. Super warm & cozy. Played cards had some great cocktails & fantastic service. Didn't get to try the French onion soup, but it looked like a popular choice. Go definitely be back!
