Champlain is a true fine dining experience. We originally were on the inside, but wanted a window seat. In order to get one, you have to get the tasting menu, which we did. All the courses on the tasting menu were excellent. The standout for me was the beef with morel mushrooms. I chose the wine pairings & they were perfect. The aperitifs were very creative & opened up a new area of taste for me. The service was professional & impeccable. Combined with the ambience & the view from our table, I found Champlain ro be a most enjoyable experience.

In summary: Waitstaff & atmosphere is excellent, Food & food timing was disappointing..especially for the price paid.

The hostess was not incredibly welcoming & when we asked for the cellar experience she completely dismissed us. Upon being shown to our table we asked again about the cellar experience & the other girl explained they no longer offer that service (which is fine, just that we saw it on their website). We were sat in a window seat which was a beautiful view of the river. The atmosphere was so intricate & beautiful. Our waiter was very prompt & cheerful as he spoke with us. He offered suggestions when asked & was knowledgeable about the wine & food. We opted for the 6 course tasting menu. I do not eat pork & the waiter noted that for the kitchen. Unfortunately my lamb course did come with bacon still which is one of the reasons I am marking food as a three star. The first three dishes came out in a timely manner, however, the final three took 30 minutes each to come out. From beginning to end 6 courses took 2.5 hours to come out which seems incredibly long.

We decided to have a fancy nice lunch at the Fairmont. & we weren't disappointed. Everything was great. They found a table for us on the terrace. With partial city view (with no prior reservation). The food was amazing. Every bite. Sometimes places with perfect location don't try hard, but definitely not this place.
The wine was even better.

One of the best meals of my life! From the moment we arrived, everything was impeccable-the service, the views, the ambiance, & of course, the food. We opted for the full tasting menu & paired it with a bottle of wine we selected ourselves. Every course was a masterpiece, showcasing incredible flavors & artistry. Having dined around the world, this experience stands out as truly exceptional. Highly recommend for anyone seeking an unforgettable culinary adventure. We ordered the wagyu beef entree on the side & it was INSANE (10/10!!)

Le Champlain Restaurant - Fairmont Château Frontenac The food & service both were excellent. The wait staff members (including Marc-Andre) were attentive without being intrusive, & the prix fixe tasting menu was outstanding - particularly the elk (& my wife loved the asparagus). Chef Gabriel Molleur-Langevin is to be commended for his wonderful menu (& the pastry chef deserves special praise!) We were celebrating our 41st wedding anniversary, & I cannot imagine a more eloquent setting, with a spectacular view of the St. Lawrence River. Merci!

This restaurant is located in a famous castle in Quebec, making it an ideal visit for those wanting to explore the castle's interior. Compared to the renowned castle hotel, this restaurant holds its own remarkably well. They offer a tasting menu that incorporates local Quebec elements into French cuisine, showcasing the unique characteristics of Quebec's culinary scene. Unlike traditional Quebec cuisine, they incorporate modern cooking techniques & ingredients from around the world, resulting in innovative & exploratory flavors. Additionally, the service is exceptionally warm & welcoming, making you feel at home. The window seats offer a fantastic view of Quebec, enhancing the dining experience. The portions are generous & reasonably priced, ensuring you don't leave hungry after enjoying the tasting menu. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Quebec.

Came here for our 5th anniversary. We got the expanded tasting menu that had a mix of seafood, berries, meat, & of course maple syrup. We got to try interesting wines alongside the dishes. Staff was very friendly & understanding of my broken French. We had a lovely view of the St. Lawrence River. Great ambience. If only we had rooms at the Frontenac where the restaurant is located so we could just walk up after. Not sure if valet parking is mandatory but that was our only option. It is an expensive experience so highly recommend going here for a special occasion.

First the noise level is irritating. Second, no table linens. Poor lighting make viewing a wine label impossible.
Food is ok but wine pairing is strange. Take any menu & order a glass of your favorite wine...skip their pairing.
Paid over $300pp & concluded that I paid too much & got too little value. Go outside the hotel to enjoy a dinner.

Rated one of the top restaurants in Quebec City, & after a long drive, we decided for our first night to have dinner at the hotel.

We ordered the prix fixe with the wine pairing.

The food was wonderful, the wine was good, maybe I was a bit over-served ; ) …& we had fantastic service.

My view was wonderful. Unfortunately my husband was looking at a wall which was under construction…this table for two was not very good. The view from our room was much better.
