About

Restaurant Shiraz delivers an authentic exploration of Persian culinary traditions through a menu defined by aromatic spices and slow-cooked techniques. The kitchen focuses on charcoal-grilled kababs featuring tender saffron-marinated chicken and seasoned ground meats served alongside mounds of fluffy basmati rice. Diners encounter a selection of herb-heavy stews known as khoresh, which balance tart pomegranate molasses with earthy walnuts and fresh greens. The interior environment emphasizes traditional aesthetics with intricate textures and warm tones that reflect cultural heritage. Every dish relies on fundamental staples like dried limes, turmeric, and legumes to build deep layers of flavor within each recipe. This establishment provides a direct experience of regional cooking styles, showcasing the complexity of classic spice blends paired with freshly baked flatbreads served straight from the oven.

Review Summary

Restaurant Shiraz is widely regarded as a premier destination in Quebec City for authentic Persian cuisine, frequently praised for its flavorful kebabs, fresh ingredients, and generous portion sizes. Many diners highlight the warm, inviting atmosphere and the professional, friendly hospitality provided by the staff, which contributes to a memorable dining experience. While the vast majority of visitors commend the high quality of traditional dishes and the beautiful presentation, a few experiences noted inconsistencies in service speed or seasoning. Overall, it is highly recommended as a top-tier halal option for those seeking a genuine taste of Iranian culture in a cozy, welcoming setting.

The fesenjan (chicken stew made with chicken slowly cooked with ground toasted walnuts & pomegranate molasses) is one of the best I've ever had! Service was great, very friendly, & the tea was lovely too. Highly recommend.

The Koobideh was fantastic. The chicken kabob was tender despite being breast meat! The miza Ghazemi was excellent.

This restaurant is a must visit if you're in Quebec City. It's affordable & so delicious. It's abundant, well served, the saffron rice is exquisite, the chicken is so tender & well marinated, their stake is wow ... I have no words to describe how good it is this place. & please, order their coffee, you won't regret it.

The first experience we had was when we went to the Shiraz restaurant, we had zarshak pilaf with chicken & beef, which was very delicious. Next time we go to Quebec City, we will definitely come back to the Shiraz restaurant.😊

We were glad to find this restaurant on our way back to our hotel from the Plains of Abraham. The restaurant had just opened for lunch when we arrived, so there was no difficulty in finding seats. The staff were friendly, & the food was delicious with generous portions. We had ordered the chicken kebab with rice & the salmon with rice. The dishes were flavorful & very satisfying. The only con is the long wait period for the food to arrive at the table after placing the order. I am talking about more than 45 minutes. From the other reviews, the wait seems to be the norm here. So, it's not an ideal choice when you are famished.

Great food & friendly professional service. We had three appetizers, including tzatziki & eggplant dishes & an oatmeal carrot potato chicken soup that could have been a meal. We split the chicken skewers meal, & the chicken was tender, moist & tasty. Prices were all reasonable & the bill was lower than what we expected.

Great food! Wonderful staff! I have celiacs & was okay to eat almost everything... no pita, no chicken, or ash soup for those that are gluten intolerant. I had the lentil soup & the veal & filet mignon kebab.

I have tried Iranian food almost in 6 big cities in Canada. I have a suggestion for your chef. In terms of some foods , you should work on your marination. Joojeh kebab needs more saffron, butter.. onion... to eliminate the smell of chicken. Koobideh is like the ones that we had in Iran with only 50% similarity. I invited my foreign friends there for dinner. I anticipated better taste ( anyway I emphasize that, Shiraz foods is close to Iranian foods but needs to work to get better). I really care about Iranian food which is a part of my culture. I don't give low star..just please consider our suggestions.

Had lunch here during Winter Carnaval 2024 in February 2024. Amazing Persian food in a sea of crappy burgers & fries. There were lots of other uninspired places along Grande Allee then we found Shiraz. A little hard to find on the lower level & pretty empty when we went in. We were seated promptly & given a chance to ask questions about the menu. Everything looked delicious, but we went with Lentil Soup & Mast-o Mousir (yogurt dip) to start. Both fantastic. Then for lunch we had a Joojeh Kebab (chicken) & Zereshk Polo (Rice, Barberries & Chicken). HUGE portions of saffron rice with each. Flavors were amazing. Both came with a nicely arranged salad of lettuce, cucumbers, & tomatoes with a light dressing. A perfect ending with hot tea & nabat (sugar & affron). We would have gone back 10 times but our trip was short, There is always next time. Thanks to our hostess/waitress. We hope to see you again.
