Having traveled part of the globe to demonstrate the richness of our culture and our traditions, the idea of creating Sagamité was born from the desire to make known our beautiful culture at home in Wendake.
The Sagamité Restaurant in Wendake was founded in 1999 and since then, we have been welcoming local, regional and worldwide customers curious to discover our culture through a gastronomic experience. The name of the restaurant testifies to this by its name; for the Wendat, Sagamité was at the heart of our diet. It is a soup-meal enriched with game where we find the famous “Three Sisters”: squash, corn and red beans, that we cultivate.
Since July 2019, the Sagamité Vieux-Québec restaurant has been introducing First Nations gastronomy to visitors to the historic district of Québec.
The Sagamité restaurant has traced the path of Aboriginal gastronomy, which we have demystified over time thanks to game. It is an establishment of choice for a clientele curious to live a gourmet and cultural experience at the same time.
The Saga Nomade Food Truck can be found all around Québec City and is also available for private events. Our specialties include our Signature poutine and our Elk burger. This is street food with an indigenous twist!
Sagamité offers a unique and memorable culinary journey into Indigenous cuisine in the heart of Quebec City. Guests frequently praise the restaurant for its exceptional selection of game meats like elk, deer, and bison, often highlighting the signature flambéed dishes as a spectacular highlight. The atmosphere is consistently described as warm, authentic, and culturally immersive, while the staff members are widely recognized for their knowledge, kindness, and dedication to providing an outstanding dining experience. Many visitors appreciate the thoughtful presentation of each course, from the flavorful signature soup and tartare to the delightful maple pie, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking a high-quality, culturally significant meal.
This place is so much more than just a plate of food. The meaning & the history are a big part of the experience. The food was good, lots of things with venison & bison. Service was impeccable.

The venison in puff pastry appetizer was very good & the Sagamite soup was delicious! My dining companion ordered the bison short ribs which were fall off the bone tender. I had the salmon & smoked trout which was cooked to perfection The staff were extremely pleasant, efficient & attentive. We stumbled onto this restaurant! What a wonderful find!
Beautiful place with amazing food! 6 of us went for dinner & everything was great- especially the onion soup, deer & elk medallions, bison ribs & 3 antlers which was also fun in its presentation. The service was excellent & they made some excellent recommendations as it was our first time here. Would highly recommend for anyone in the area!
What an experience. Had the 3 meat dinner (venison, elk, bison). It was lit before us & served with a plate of delicious veggies. The squash was so flavourful. The server was attentive & explained the menu in English. We were so grateful. Spoke to our daughter in French & English to work on her conversation skills. She enjoyed the chicken fingers. So thankful for the kids options with such an elaborate menu. Thank you for an amazing dinner in the historical city.
best meal we had in Québec by far! since they specialized in meats that most restaurants here do not serve, we had to try as many as possible. the elk & deer medallions were tender & super flavorful. we appreciated that it was not over seasoned & that we could taste the difference in meats. the short ribs of homademade smoke bison was tender & fall off the bone. the fries were super generous & the gravy the accompanied the short rib was excellent. the beef & venison tartare were super unique & delicious, definitely a must try. & the walleye fillet was cooked to perfection with a sweet cranberry sauce that complimented the dish perfectly. we also go the sagamite soup which was a nice lighter option, still loaded with meat & beans, to switch up the heavier options on our table. highly highly recommend this restaurant when in old quebec city!
This restaurant offers a selection of meals made with game meat (especially deer, elk, & bison). The taste of the meat is truly amazing. The variety of game dishes is impressive-you can even find game meat pizzas, & there's game meat spaghetti for the kids (& yes, there's one for adults too 😉).
We received truly exceptional service from Joëlle. Thank you so much for your warm welcome & for these dishes with such outstanding flavor.
P.S. What I didn't expect: the brownie was the best I've ever had, & the coffee was also great. What a fantastic dinner we had! Thank you!
