Having traveled part of the globe to demonstrate the richness of our culture and our traditions, the idea of creating Sagamité was born from the desire to make known our beautiful culture at home in Wendake.
The Sagamité Restaurant in Wendake was founded in 1999 and since then, we have been welcoming local, regional and worldwide customers curious to discover our culture through a gastronomic experience. The name of the restaurant testifies to this by its name; for the Wendat, Sagamité was at the heart of our diet. It is a soup-meal enriched with game where we find the famous “Three Sisters”: squash, corn and red beans, that we cultivate.
Since July 2019, the Sagamité Vieux-Québec restaurant has been introducing First Nations gastronomy to visitors to the historic district of Québec.
The Sagamité restaurant has traced the path of Aboriginal gastronomy, which we have demystified over time thanks to game. It is an establishment of choice for a clientele curious to live a gourmet and cultural experience at the same time.
The Saga Nomade Food Truck can be found all around Québec City and is also available for private events. Our specialties include our Signature poutine and our Elk burger. This is street food with an indigenous twist!
Sagamité offers a unique and memorable culinary journey into Indigenous cuisine in the heart of Quebec City. Guests frequently praise the restaurant for its exceptional selection of game meats like elk, deer, and bison, often highlighting the signature flambéed dishes as a spectacular highlight. The atmosphere is consistently described as warm, authentic, and culturally immersive, while the staff members are widely recognized for their knowledge, kindness, and dedication to providing an outstanding dining experience. Many visitors appreciate the thoughtful presentation of each course, from the flavorful signature soup and tartare to the delightful maple pie, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking a high-quality, culturally significant meal.
Excellent ! Incroyable ! Aussi bon qu'agréable! Personnel attentionné, à l'écoute. Repas typique , goûteux & dépaysant pour des français. On recommande à 1000%👍
Les assiettes avec viande de gibier étaient simplement délicieux!! Très recommandé, nous reviendrons sans faute. Merci a Hervé pour la gentillesse & les suggestions pour un dîner parfait
We stopped here knowing they served indigenous meals. This was a memorable & amazing experience. The staff were outstanding & the seating was pleasant. The food is next level. We had a full course meal & it was entirely delicious & sensational. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for an amazing experience in tasting food deeply rooted in Canadian culture of indigenous communities.
In town for a business meeting & our hosts reserved Sagamite for a no host dinner gathering. If you like game meat, or even if you just want to try it, this is your place! I had the bison & it melted in my mouth. Everyone in our party raved about their food as well. The indigenous decor was beautiful & the service was impeccable, especially considering our party size of 30+. Highly recommended.
This was a really great experience. We visited in late Feb.'26, & opted for the house special menu of elk, venison & bison. We were not disappointed. It's a really unique experience, & the food is very tasty & plentiful. Quebec City has a lot of top class restaurants, & Sagamite right up there with the best. Highly recommended!
This tribal restaurant absolutely blew our minds. We chose it to celebrate a very special life moment, & from start to finish, it was nothing short of extraordinary.
The menu is truly unique, featuring expertly prepared steaks from wild species like elk, bison, & venison, & every bite was incredible. From the appetizers to the entrées & finishing with dessert, everything was absolutely delicious, thoughtfully prepared, flavorful, & beautifully presented.
We paired our meal with an Italian Pinot Noir, which complemented the food perfectly & made the experience even more special.
What truly set the evening apart, though, was the hospitality & culture. The staff honored our celebration by singing for us with drums & traditional instruments, a moment that was so heartfelt, meaningful, & unforgettable. It added a deep sense of connection & warmth that you simply don't find everywhere.
We left feeling amazed, grateful, & already wanting to come back. Can't recommend this place enough, an absolute must-visit for anyone looking for incredible food, culture, & a once-in-a-lifetime dining experience. With love from the USA!
This place was an absolute experience. I totally recommend anyone stopping in Quebec to eat here. The atmosphere was was casual but classy, the staff amazing & the food was incredible. Definitely will be a regular stop for us when we're here
