About

Having traveled part of the globe to demonstrate the richness of our culture and our traditions, the idea of creating Sagamité was born from the desire to make known our beautiful culture at home in Wendake.

The Sagamité Restaurant in Wendake was founded in 1999 and since then, we have been welcoming local, regional and worldwide customers curious to discover our culture through a gastronomic experience. The name of the restaurant testifies to this by its name; for the Wendat, Sagamité was at the heart of our diet. It is a soup-meal enriched with game where we find the famous “Three Sisters”: squash, corn and red beans, that we cultivate.

Since July 2019, the Sagamité Vieux-Québec restaurant has been introducing First Nations gastronomy to visitors to the historic district of Québec.

The Sagamité restaurant has traced the path of Aboriginal gastronomy, which we have demystified over time thanks to game. It is an establishment of choice for a clientele curious to live a gourmet and cultural experience at the same time.

Chez Sagamite in historic Old Quebec is a delight. The service was great & the food was fantastic. The restaurant represents a bit of a fusion between the French & the Native Indian population with many dishes including elk, venison, & bison. My wife started with their excellent house soup which includes the three meats plus corn, squash & beans. I enjoyed a cream of cauliflower soup. She followed with surf & turf with a delicious mushroom based dipping sauce. I recommend the spaghetti with venison, bison & elk. Pair all of this with a bottle of Pinot noir & finish with their phenomenal maple pie (it is Canada after all!). You can't go wrong by choosing this place for dinner! Business casual attire is just fine. You will need a reservation though.

Deer & Elk medallion steak is fantastic. The blueberry sauce ties it all together perfectly. The Sagamite soup is tongue melting. Beef filet mignon was killer. Fantastic experience overall. Best red meat I've ever had. Good house red wine.

I got the elk & deer medallions. The elk was delicious, but I found the venison not cooked enough for me. I asked the waiter if they could cook it just a little longer as it was cold. He brought it back with more warm sauce & the same doneness.

A really unique dining experience. The house elk soup is delicious. The fish with cranberry chutney is an interesting mix of savoury & sweet. I was so impressed with how well it was cooked: melt in your mouth smooth with barely any bones in it. The restaurant has some cool pieces of Indigenous art as well. The only critiques was that the T-bone was a little tough but it came with an amazing sauce to balance this. Thank you for a great experience!

We had the Three Antlers main for two people, which included deer, elk & bison accompanied by very nicely presented veg. Meat was super tender. Good wine recommendation too.

Was looking for a truly unique dinner in Quebec City & this was it. We did the elk & venison medallions & they were delicious. Loved the presentation & maple pie for dessert was divine.

You can try Canadian traditional foods that are steak of the deer, elk & bison. These are not bad, but it might devide opinion.

That’s start by saying this place is not cheap. But we had the full blown traditional First Nation yatista meal with venison in puffed pastry appy, 3 sisters soup, maple pie for dessert, & the main course of the trio meats of bison, elk, & deer. The presentation is amazing & all the food was excellent. Get in the traditional attitude before eating. The local native beer was good too. A memorable experience & I do mean we will remember this meal 10 years from now.
